Hi, i own a 650 '04 and i was wondering what to do to increase the compression, after a few mails i found out that there isn't anything on the market, the only thing to do is to replace the oem head gasket with a thicker one...from 1,4mm to 0,6mm-0,8mm but i don't know the benefit of doing this! If anyone has tried before that i would like to know the results or his opinion...thanks!

I think you mean thinner. A thinner head gasket will result in less combustion chamber volume, giving you more squish. One of the many Husagurus here will be able to tell you when(or if it will happen at all), you have to begin worrying about interference from too little space.

I know a lot of people were discussing the use of a 450 domed piston to increase compression, but I'm not sure this would be applicable for your year.

thanks,

i know taffy sells hi compr pistons but the weight(320grms) is too much for my rod...i run with elko now(280grms) and the only way to increse compr is a thinner head gasket, right?

300gms for the taffy piston

as I understand it Dr-C had a lot of cracked ELKOs running high comp he got a heavy high comp piston and machined it lighter

Weed decked his block and relocated the cam higher up in the head/rocker cover and uses std wossner

not that it helps but on the 80mm crank with an elko you should be able to go to 0.8mm gasket before the valves get too close.

there is a pic somewhere of a high comp ice racer engine by enginehardware, 82mm crank, oem head gasket elko piston with deeper valve pockets and reduced deck height.

i was going to say? i thought my piston was close and any way a higher compression piston weighs more.

au naturale innit mate!

my special sprockets appear to work only after 0.5mm has been skimmed off the block.

god i hate being perfect sometimes.....

thingis....ignition timing....

one of those things that slips past the searchlights, under the wire, past the guard dogs etc. but you know....

one things for sure, it would need my jettting for R & T as well as an IXU27.

regards

Taffy
