Yipeeeeeeeeeee...Christmas comes early....

Just got off the phone after making a deal with the devil...er...I mean the infamous Jedi. I will be picking up my new 2005 & 1/2 Fe 550 the first week of January. The 1/2 is because it is a new (in the crate) 05 550 with the 2006 plastic, gas tank and seat. All I have to do is paint the frame pink...I mean black... to trick people into thinking it is an 06. :D

Since we are on the verge of winter wonderland here in New Brunswick, I also bought a set of ice racing tires so that I can play on the frozen lakes and rivers this winter. Can't possibly wait until spring to put some hours on it!!

p.s. Is there anyone out there that is willing to explain to my wife why I need another dirt bike....with our first baby due to arrive any day now...she is not aware of this purchase yet. 8O

Oh and FryGuy....I tried desperately to buy your 05 ISDE bike from Poland but our friend NSman snatched it up before I could get my hands on it.

Congratulations Mark,on both occassions. The only way to really slip it past the wife is to have several bikes, preferably all of the same color  . You just insert the new one into the center of the herd.

Happy Holidays,
Ken

P.S.
The three hunny misses you!! She has only been out once since WV.

Congratulations Coffin, your wife be so busy looking after the baby she won't even notice a new bike, unless of course you ride it around your house wide open. :D Will this be your first child?
Sorry I got your(fryguys)bike, which one was it,the 550 with the blackbird graphics.
...nsman

Thanks Guys,

Berger...I am still trying to come to grips with how good that auto clutch worked. I wanted to hate it soo bad because it just did not seem like it belonged on a dirt bike...but the damn thing worked great.

NSman....first child...we know it is a girl. Fryguy's bike is the 550 with the brake snake on it. I'm convinced Fry weaved some sort of magic into it for the ISDE because that thing seems to work amazing and it has a different bark than the other bikes had. Secret Sauce of some sort?

Cheers

#1, Congrats on the new arrival, it will change your life in ways you cannot imagine! :D
#2 ALWAYS PAY "CASH" FOR NEW TOYS!!! (never leave a "paper trail"!!!)
#3 As mentioned above, have enough other bikes that it "blends into" the herd.

Gotta be a Canadian, with your government health care and family leave packages. You get a a bike and a baby in the same year! I got the second child this fall, but a bike.............no no no, we can't afford that right now.
Double congrats to you!!

Double congrats :D .Some people have it made that is until she finds out 8O . I think you will be all right. I would have liked to have taken the 300 on a spin myself but never got the chance  . Once again best of luck to all of you.

Best wishes for your new family. I couldn't help you explain to your wife as I was unable to explain to my wife why I, as a Grandpa of a two year old, needed a bike. Fortunately she has always believed if you are going to buy anything, you may as well buy the best.

Merry Christmas, Joel

As a father of two and a UHE, I wish to congratulate you on both new arrivals.

However, as an attorney who has handled dozens and dozen of divorce cases, you are already on thin ice without the studded tires. You are the only one who does not know it, yet...

New mothers and new motorcycles will have inherent conflicts in interest which the courts uniformly recognize as irreconcilable. Her safety and support concerns and the new parenting duties that she will insist be shared by you may impinge on your riding time -- but I doubt it and potentially damage you freedom and physical well being.

Personally, I would hide the bike until Christmas morning, and then claim it as an anonymous gift or a prize winning or ...... Although I do not like lying, in your case the truth could be far more expensive, or fatal, than the motorcycle...

I know the new Berg will earn its own monicker with time. Have you thought about your child's name? It should rhyme with "berg."

Congratulations and enjoy your very wonderful life.... You have been greatly blessed. :D :D :D

There is only one thing better than the feeling I had when I made the deal for the new beast....the feeling I had last night after explaining it to my wife and realizing that I still had all my body parts attached! :D

Whew...I sweated all the way home from work as I rehearsed the tale I was about to spin to my wife on how and why I acquired the new ride. She stared at me intently as I nervously babbled all the justifications I had dreamed up for my purchase.

When I was done, she smiled and said that she was happy for me and thought it was great that I was able to figure out a way to get the bike sooner rather than later. 8O 8O 8O 8O :) :D  The scary part is that I know she really was happy for me and there was no hidden agenda!!!

Wow...I already knew it, but it is nice to be reminded....I have a freaking great partner. I'm so glad I got married at 32 when I had a better idea what was important rather than 22 when you just want the girl with the best rear end!!

Right on!!!
One word of advise. Dont ever lie!!! You may leave out some details, but dont ever lie to them.
I got married at 31 and it has seemed to work out really well.
So....is it in the garage yet???? :D

Set a precedent ASAP. The day after the bambino arrives, go for a ride.

Trust me, I speak from experience.

Congrats.

Hmmm....I think that it was pretty cool that I survived this purchase without any scars....BUT I'm geussing the "day after" ride might indeed be justification for her to fill the gearbox full of sand.

Since my budget is blown and I can't afford to pay Bruce to rebuild the motor....I think I'll wait until atleast day 3

Don't listen to Kelsow ,fact is ,when that little newborn flashes her little eyes at you ...you will forget your bike.

nsman,

I am sure that you are right. I can't wait to see the little critter. The fact that I know I have that new 550 just sitting there waiting for me is good enough for me. It will get lots of hours put on it when the time is right.

If I had never had the chance to ride one of the new bikes yet, I would probably be going crazy with anticipation and would ride it first chance I had. Luckily, I have had the opportunity to put many hours on all the new bikes from 2004-2006 so I know exactly what to expect. Even better, I have put the most time on the 2005 FE 550 (it was always my favorite), so I already feel like I have had the opportunity to get know my new ride even though I haven't picked it up yet.

I will definitely look forward to a ride in Nova Scotia with you guys in the spring....or maybe later this winter if anyone over there gets setup for the ice?
