Mapping switch

I've seen allot of discussion here and other web sites about the mapping switch.
Some are at a difference of how it works.

My question is:
If the bike has the dealer installed competition map and no map switch is it in the more Agressive mode, (the same as with the switch and set to the Agressive setting.

Or, does the map switch in its most Agressive setting actually make the bike more Agressive then the same bike without the map switch?

If it matters e bike is a 2011 FE 390.

As the map-switch changes the ignition timing it affects whatever injection map you have installed.

So to answer your questions:
The ignition is still in normal mode even if you have the comp map installed in your 390. If you add a map-switch you can then make your bike more aggressive if you like, or more tame, as you then can adjust the ignition.

Jon, thanks for the response !

Sounds like I'll need to try one of the switches out.
I'm very happy with the bike now but always like to have the adjustability.
