Just curious if anyone has installed the map switch yet. What's required to get it to work?
Is there a noticeable difference in the maps? Can you install the switch, set your bike to performance, then remove the switch?

Hi Dalton,
Ive installed the map switch to my 570, you plug it in straight from the wiring loom behind headlight, there is very little slack in the cable by the time it reaches the handlebar though. You then simply turn the numbered dial to the performance map you want which is position 1 is soft, position 2 is aggressive and 3 or any other numerals on dial gives you standard.
There is a difference in the powerbands, i did wheelies in 3rd &4th to rev limits in the different positions to feel them and soft was fine for 570, it would still lift the front right up at 30 mph in3rd off throttle. But on the aggressive setting you could do 60 degree wheelie off throttle in 4th gear at 45mph which you could not in the other positions.

Thats a good point about unplugging it. I am not sure whether it would stay on the mapping you had set it on or whether it would revert back to the standard setting.
I also wondered what might happen if the actual cable got ripped out for some reason, would the EFI malfunction and leaveyou stuck ?

That's what I was looking for. I guess if I can't remove it I will mount it somewhere other than the bars.

Could it simply be a variable resistor, and installing the proper fixed resistor would leave it mapped full time?

Nick,

Could you run a multimeter over the wires to test and see if the switch is just a pot(variable resistor or multi position/value resistance), and tell us what the values are on the different points?

I was thinking the same thing with the resistance value. If you had the "aggressive" mode flashed into the bike then does the map switch work ?

I would like to be able to have aggressive as default and select soft by a press button switch block to effect a resistance to "force" a mild map.

U2 what 570 maps did Richie download for you ?

There was only one here which I could get that was the non ADR one, which I assume is agreesive ?

Does each map have the 3 modes or just the orginal standard one ?

The std ignition has three maps, std, aggressive, and soft. I'll ride it more this week with spike tires on my 570 and post my thoughts.

Hi Gaz,

I believe that the "open" map is the agressive one and that is what is loaded for competition use. My guess is that this is the one applied.

Usually a map switch will use a different resistance on each switch point. An A-D (Analog to Digital) converter detects the resistance and reports that to the ECU which applies the corresponding map. So the MAP selected is the one that you get. The three modes should be listed as 3 MAPS (but the electrotechnogeeks just like to try and confuse us).
 
U2 just wanted to give the #'s from the map switch. #1 =14.98 #2=6.79 #3=4.67
#5=2.70 #6=2.22 #7=1.94 #8=0.00 #9=0.00 We just opened the box today
from husaberg & the xc1 tool is now here! Got to go & play with the new tool see ya!

Boss are those numbers ohms or K ohms?
Sounds like a two pole switch and a 6.8 ohm resistor will give you the option of aggresive or normal.

Did you have to disconnect two wires to add the switch in series?
That would make sense because no resistance would be selecting 8 (or 9) profile which is standard.

Which wires are used from wiring harness?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I would really like to be able to select aggresive mode for racing, and the dealer tells me my switch may not be in until March.
