I bought my '95 FC600 about 4 days ago as a non runner, although the previous owner assured me it was running in Dec '12.
I have stripped the Dellorto carb (roundslide) and cleaned out all the corrosion and crud that was in there.
The bike was a non runner as it was dumping all it's fuel straight into the cylinder, the fuel valve in the carb was stuck wide open.
The valve now works and the bike starts, fairly readily :), on choke and runs, revs up etc, however the carb is still flooding, like I said the valve works as it should when it's closed with a finger, but once the bowl is on it overfills and flows out of the overflow pipe.
I have tried altering the tang height but it seems to make no difference, I have also sat the floats in water in a dish and they do float.
Is there a service kit for these carbs still available, or is there an alternative carb thats a bit more reliable that can be sustituted ?
I have been a mechanic for 35 years so been about the block, but a little help from people more familiar with these bikes little issues would be much appreciated
Cheers
Tom

The best advice is to buy the phm40 carb i have for sale on ebay  i had a sticking float once, i found that every once in a while the float would stick, after 3-4 times of taking it off i got pissed and was sitting there with the bowl off and flipping the carb up and down and watching the float i saw it catch slightly once in a while so i tweaked it so while flipping it around it wouldnt stick and problem never happened again....

another carb i once had a overflow issue with had leaves and dirt gunk in the fuel tank....i noticied everytime i pulled the bowl off (like ten times on this one LOL) there was tiny tiny specks of **** it it in the very bottom, at first i never payed attention then after found the problem and cleaned the tank and was good to go..
