Lc4 chain guide on a 501e

Hey everyone, I keep damaging the chinsy factory chain guide on my old 97 501e. I have read a lc4 guide will work as a upgrade. Question is will a aftermarket guide for a lc4 also work ?
 
anything would be better than stock. i used to destroy one a month on my 98's.
on my '98 fe400, the p.o. had installed this one. don't know where it came from.

I may have to make a bracket to bolt to the swingarm even for a lc4 style guide. I am not sure how the lc4 mounts to the swingarm. Clean 400 you have there too ! Looks nice !
 
Anyone else have any options ? I really need to ditch the factory guide. I don't think the lc4 will bolt up.
 
I used an LC4 one. Just made up some brackets from some scrap. The rear one would be better welded, but it just stops the guide from swivelling up if it takes a hit. Works fine as is.

did a dualsport back in '98 with my new fe600e, about 150 miles. got back to staging and noticed the guide had broken off the swingarm (again). it looked completely normal, just upside down, keeping the chain from going up.
the factory boys were in the pits and i was looking over their bikes. guy comes over and says "pretty nice, huh? i say, oh yeah, i've got one like it, but your's has the chain tensioner on the opposite way of mine. he says "i gotta see this", so i walk him over to mine. he looks and looks and seemed confused... says "i don't know how it works, but those guys in sweden are always coming up with new stuff." i didn\t have the heart to tell him.
