Have a crf 450 in pieces that I'm doing up soon. As I'm putting a programable cdi in it I thought I'd have a crack at putting the old one in the 650 to see if it will work and possibly put a programable one in it to if it works.

Was trying to kill a little time. Spliced it into the existing loom to use either cdi. Was hoping (honestly being lazy)it would work straight up using the 650 stator etc but a no go. Will probably have to sort something out like bushmechanic's conversion, which probably isn't worth the hassle due to the limited output of the stock 450r stator as I want to keep the electrics for rego. if I can pick up a cheap 450x stator and flywheel from the wreckers through the week I think it might be on the cards. After some of the **** I rode through last weekend having a 'soft ****' option for power delivery is quite appealing

Getting a plate made up to mount the 450 coil on the 650 ignition cover. Should have it back on Monday or Tuesday. Will then look at getting the 650 flywheel off and see what I need to do to get 450 flywheel on and then get a bracket made up for the trigger.

has anyone uploaded photos from their iPhones onto to forum? Can seem to get mine up. If not will try the computer in the next few days

The plate I got made up is a 2 piece unit. The first is a 3mm plate with two counter sunk holes to mount onto existing 650 coil mounts with 3 taped holes to suit the 450 coil. The second is more of a spacer that sits between the plate and centre of the coil. Will throw some pics up once I work out how to do it

Here's the pics of the plates. apart from the price i'm happy with how it turned out.
