The word is that multi-time AMA National Enduro champ Mike Lafferty will be on a Husaberg for 2010. Since he favors the 400cc size engine in the KTM, I wonder if he will be on the 390? Something tells me that is what he will race, if this rumor is really true.

Wow! Can you reveal in what direction you heard this news blow in from ?

Too funny. I'd wager he is in his mid-30's. I lined up a couple of times in Nationals near his row back in the late 90's, and he was just a young pup then.

Dale,
There is a short post on OffRoadChampions.com about it. No other information then "Lafferty to Husaberg in 2010".

Edit: Wikipedia says he was born in 1975, so my guess was pretty close.

I was just kidding, he is getting up there though. Still a heck of a good rider.

I know. Your joke got me to wondering how old he really was, so I looked it up just for the record.

It would have been cool to sign Bobbitt instead, except he prefers those smokin' motorcycles. :(

yep just seen it on a the facebook husaberg as an official press release

The official release from Mr. Clay.

For what it's worth, at the last round in Indiana it was Lafferty, Bobbit, Fahringer.

Lafferty had one bad race this year, or he probably would have won the title. Nick F has picked it way up this year. If he continues his progression, he will be fighting for some wins and be in the title mix too. I am assuming Nick is staying on a Husaberg for 2010.

Times they are are changin'. Two of the top three riders next year will be on Husaberg.

Now if they could get a top five rider on a Husaberg in the much more visable GNCC series, that would be huge. They made a bike (FX) for it...

You guy's were just about on top of each other! Has anyone heard today which bike he will be on?

Mike tested a 570, FE450 and FE390. He is 6 seconds a lap faster on a FE390 with his race front suspension, tall seat, Akro exhaust and the bike set on the aggressive mode. He has a FX450 that I gave him this weekend at the National Enduro in Indiana. He is going to ride it in a beach race in NJ this weekend. He has plans to race some selected GNCCs on the FX. I have known Mike for 8 years now and I have never seen him this excited about racing. He loves the bikes. He was always searching to find the perfect jetting on his 400. That issue is over now with the EFI. He told me the stock bike turns better than his KTM with a few hundred hours of set up time.
Nick Fahringer will continue to ride for us in 2010. He rode an FX450 this past weekend and was 3rd overall. He will continue to ride an FX. He beat Russell Bobbitt in one section and was very close in the others.
I'm really happy to have these two on Husabergs. They are both great riders and people and I believe we will have a National Championship on the Husaberg wall next year. It will also be good for the series to have two different brands racing for a title rather than just one orange one.
BTW......I have decided to quit drinking beer and get in shape so I can win the Senior A class next year. Well....maybe I'll just quit drinking soft drinks. The beer part was a joke! :)

Just realized I wasn't totally clear.
Mike was fastest on his test loop on a 390. He was 6 secionds per lap faster on the 390 than on his KTM400. He will race a 390 in National Enduros and an FX450 in some selected GNCCs and other events.

Thanks Clay, that's excellent news! I really look forward to having that kind of clout behind the brand. Great job recruiting.

Thanks for the detailed update. What a team for 2010. I'd love to see a top five OA guy riding a Husaberg in GNCC. Since Husaberg has the proper bike now with the FX, will there be an official factory effort in GNCC?

It's great to hear Mike is going to be on a berg next year. My brother and I had the pleasure of riding on the same number in an enduro last year and got to see his rear tire for about 3 turns and he was GONE! When we came out of the first section he was sitting in a chair drinking gatoraid while Evan his mechanic was working on the bike, guess it pays to be that fast.
Hey Clay, when are you coming back up to New England to play in the rocks?
