KTM stator on a Husaberg?

anyone fitted a KTM stator on a Husaberg? does it run OK?

yes, it works if it's the sem you're on about. as long as the direction of flywheel rotation is the same. i had one on my 98 400 you rode.

but the KTM flywheel does go the other way round doesn't it? it sits on the left of their cranks and their engines rotate in the same direction as ours?

The early-mid 90's two stroke (250 and I believe 440 and 550) KTM SEM ignitions will work on the 1st generation Husabergs up to '98. In '99 Husaberg took the stator off of the engine case and mounted it to the cover. My '91 499 is currently running a 250 KTM stator. I think paid $150 new for it at the the dealer back around 1996. My '95 501 still has it's original stator though.
 
The KTM 2-strokes with the SEM stator were not picky on rotational direction and would start and run either way.

don't know if i agree with that, but taff, the ktm sem stators were on the right side at first. i think they changed in '95 or 96. but the 96 up would work on a 99-00 berg?
 
sparks tells me I have the correct stator coming back to me so I'll wait now but it is just sitting here doing nowt this old katoom thing. so I need to get it into circulation sometime.

Hi Taff,

I'm finishing off a KTM SEM this afternoon, I'll run it on the rig in the format you require and let you know the results.

The 3 coming back to you are all later type Husaberg SEM's.
