For what it may be worth:

When asked about the Husaberg brand Ktm replies,

"Husaberg is a separate division, it is treated much like another model and is used as a platform to try out new ideas at a lower volume. Ktm produces about 3,000 Husabergs annually."

That is very interesting. I wonder how many KTM's are sold? I also wonder what some of those "new ideas" are?

A quick tour of the latest KTM report(nov 05),states the KTM group produced 80,358 machines in 05.Deduct the bergs and approx 20% minis and you have your answer.
An interesting side note to a report I stumbled upon.Cross Industries which is KTM (also Husabergs) largest shareholder just happens to be the largest independent shareholder of Polaris industries in the USA. Apparently last summers Polaris aquisition of KTM was done through a third party(unnamed) but referred to as Polaris Austria.Cross Industries has the option and will make the decision in 2007 whether KTM purchases Polaris or vice versa. The decision will have more to due with current tax positions and exchange rates than any thing else.....very complicated.

wow only 3000 bikes made per year.........they better get ready for growth now that I own one, everybody is being told about this great bike.

3000 world wide..cool I like being a platform for new ideas built by KTM, designed by husaberg............very cool.

my mate went to the factory last year. the engines are made in one place and the bikes in another. they clear the whole place of that deadly orange stuff and just go nuts on husabergs for a month or two.

and then that's it...

THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON
Where the money came from:
$50.million, GE credit and polaris made a new deal in 05 that released Polaris from providing the $50 million deposit for GE providing dealer floor plan credit.
Polaris won a federal income tax dispute in 05 that returned millions in paid taxes and released funds polaris had held for future tax liabilities.
Polaris are being paid a ever increasing kick back from Household finance for the use of the Polaris credit card operation.
WHERE THE MONEY WENT
The funds used to purchase 24% of KTM were infact almost the same amount as stated above.
It is known that Polaris has purchased 11 million of its own shares back in the last few years and the single largest shareholder is in fact Cross industries in Switzerland the same majority shareholder of KTM,also that the Polaris purchase of KTM was conducted through a third unnamed party.
What happened here was the few people who really are in control of these two companies found a way to disperse amonst themselves approx $75 million in funds that was realized from non operational activities. This was announced as an investment but in fact was not the case but a payout....sheer genius...

more information, just in case ...

Want to know more? There is a press release form 7/19/05 on the KTM webpage:

http://www.ktm.com/investor%5Frelations ... 19705e.pdf

and more numbers:

KTM Power Sports AG - Focus on POWER SPORTS Vehicles
Business Year 2004/05 (Sep 1, 2004 – Aug 31, 2005):
• Cooperation with Polaris Industries Inc. since July 2005
• 12% higher group sales
• Units: more than 80,000 motorcycles
• Equity ratio: 39 %
• Proposed dividend: € 0.55 per share
Focus on POWER SPORTS vehicles
KTM Power Sports AG (former CROSS Holding AG) acquired 100% of the shares in the KTM Group GmbH in several stages over the course of the business year 2004/05. This resulted in a company name change to KTM Power Sports AG, a new focus on the POWER SPORT segment as well as the sale of the participations that no longer belonged to the KTM group, such as Rosenbauer International AG.
The increase of the KTM holdings enabled KTM Power Sports AG to fully consolidate its participation as of December 1, 2004. Due to the proportional consolidation in the first quarter of 2004/05 and the full consolidation of the KTM group in December 2004, a comparison with last years figures is not feasible.
Cooperation with Polaris Industries Inc.
The Polaris Group, based in Minneapolis, USA, acquired 24.9% of the shares in the KTM Power Sports AG during the past business year. A number of joint-venture projects were defined at the operative level with the KTM-Sportmotorcycle AG and their implementation was begun.
Group Sales of KTM Power Sports AG: € 381.9 MM; +147% (KTM Group GmbH: € 451.2 MM, +12% )
Group sales of the KTM Group increased by 12 % to € 451,2 MM, which resulted in group sales of KTM Power Sports AG of € 381,9 MM (+147%). Along with volume growth, the rise in sales resulted from an improved model mix (2-cylinder models) and strong growth in the related products segment (spare parts/accessories, WP products).
Group Sales (units) of the KTM group: 80,356 motorcycles, +5 %
Sales did reach 80,356 units supported by the successful expansion in the on-road motorcycle market – launch of 990 Super Duke and 950 Supermoto.

ok so we are 3,000 of over 80,000 sales and boy do some bitch!

glad to be alive would be how i put it!

USA owns 25% of katoom. that'll cheer a few people!

"wow only 3000 bikes made per year........."

I remember the days of 300 per year...

Thank you KTM!!! :D :D :D

I truly tried to get KTM stocks but realized it was a bond so I forgot about it (stocks are more fun).

But I think there is value in this little company.

I am glad Husaberg was bought by KTM, otherwise I would not have a Berg today. It worked both way (survival vs technology) and everybody is happy.

3,000 units is quite a bunch, actually, it's nothing compared to Honda, of course, but in a couple years from now people should stop asking "Husa... what?"

I am interested to know how many made it to the USA as opposed to all the other places in the world. i think heard somewhere that the number was around 1500 in the US... or was that north america... brett?

At what point do we stop become a unique (read elite :D ) group. (of course that depending on who you ask, my buddies think i am an idiot... can't wait to let them ride my new berg.)

Cross Industries ag
I I
Polaris Ind Cross Holdings(formerly)
I
KTM sportmotorcycles AG
I
Husaberg
I
Husaberg Aus 1000 units
I
Clark(uk) 800 units
I
BMG 600 units
I
Rest of dist 600

Holy smokes, 600 Bikes to BMG annually 8O !!!

That is a lot smaller number than I had thought....

Back when I used to go to Premier Motorsports here in Phoenix I had seen many plaques on the wall saying that they were a #1 dealer for such and such a year. Is it unethical to ask who the top dealers in the USA are over the past few years? Or who is selling the most bikes. I would have to imagine that it is probably a california or arizona dealer still???

Regards,

big hand for the aussie importer. 10 million people and they take a thousand huseys! sheesh!

and the UK importer as well... fair play to him.

just shows that the scandanavian importer wants shooting and the german importer needs to go to dachau for his "holiday".

think about it? 4 years ago those bikes left sweden to go to australia... :?:

Taffy

Husaberg is also relatively popular in France, a market more open to the 2-strokes.

Could Supermoto help popularize Husaberg in all these markets?

nick

the uk importer wnet pop trying to pay for the entire SM race budget out of his pocket. you simply can't eat caviar with dustin hoffman if you can't pick up the tab mate now can you!

or don't we have any financial reality here either?

The way I now understand things the real owners of both KTM sportmotorcycles AG..AND... Polaris Industries... is Cross Industries AG.
I have been wrong about more important things ,feel free to wade though their respective financial reports. .
