No ice riding / or skiiing this winter

Check out the health & fitness forum on Thumpertalk.com - lots of good info.

I had an ACL 'revision' (dr. speak for repairing a previous repair) on Aug 2nd and hope to go for an easy ride on Sunday.

Good luck with the op and here's to a speedy recovery!
Went skiing with a group of friends to Borovets in Bulgaria at the Easter holidays.
One of my friends fell and twisted his knee ligaments on the 2nd day and spent the rest of the holiday in plaster from his ankle to his butt.
Once back home, the doctors said it wasn't bad enough to warrant surgery (British NHS), but he couldn't work due to his lack of mobility (he works as an ambulance paramedic!).
Finally, he's been given the all-clear after a long recovery period (almost 7 months) and will start back at work in a couple of week's time.
It was his first time skiing and I think it was also his last!

Iceberg,
Have you seen the skiing knee braces? They are about 500 euros. They are a medical innovation so you can find them in the health fitness type mags.{ my team captain from my old ski race team had a set! He swore by them. They kept him racing when he should have stopped years before!}They transfer all the forces at the knee to the thigh muscle. they take a bit of getting used to but will help your knees to recover and prevent further injury.
