kickstarter question

This is how my kickstarter is mounted on my shaft:

As you can see,the end of the kickstarter isn't resting against the white nylon tip.Is it maybe mounted incorrectly at the factory?I think it has to be 1 tooth of the spline to the left so it will rest against the nylon.My dealer tolled me he had more new 2004 FS650's which were the same.

If you have room to advance the k/s one spline ,i would do it.Most of the 05 models do not seem to have the nylon stop anymore.

From what year is your bike? If I am correct the split clutch cover is from 04 onwards. But your kickstarter should have a different shape too then, more tucked in. But this could be different on the 650. Someone here surely would know. The newer types don't use the nylon stop anymore, the kickstarter holds itself in place.
