Kickstarter issue

Hi guys,

I have a FC600, Model Year `00 and a small kickstarter issue. The bike is in pretty good shape and there is nothing torn up, just to mention!!!!!
Sometimes when I try to start the Berg and don`t do the complete stroke of the kickstarter because the compression kicks in, the Berg doesn`t fire up and my kickstart lever sticks` in an almost horizontal position. I have to grab it per hand and bring it back up again.
Has anybody a clue what is going on with that????...Is my kickstarter spring getting weak? Is something inside the engine case rubbing, so that the lever sticks?....Has anybody a idea or even knows that case?????

did you ever took off the clutch cover?
Maybe your kickstarter mechanism has been assembled wrong.
Right now, I´m not home, and I´ve got no parts manual to explain the spare parts in a right
way. Sorry. Will do it tommorow.

hi, wir koennten auch auf deutsch kommunizieren, aber im Allgemein-Interesse weiter auf english!!!!!

......I didn`t take off the clutch cover so far---nothing done there!!!!Against your theory is also the fact, that it worked fine so far, only in the last time it became a problem!!!!....but I think it couldn`t hurt to doublecheck, maybe there is really something wrong with it!!!
So, what would you recommend????

Scully had a problem that sounded like that. I think it turned out to be two screws that hold the kickstart retainer or stop plate (?) in place had worked their way out inside the LHS cover and were having their heads worn away by the rotating kickstart shaft. If yours has done the same it might be wise to check it soon. Scully was seeing abnormal metal in his oil.

ich hatte mich schon gewundert ob Du nicht auch aus Deutschland kommst,
aber bei Location steht bei Dir "SoCal, USA".

Wenn Du also den Kupplungsdeckel noch nie abgebaut hattest, kann es eben
sein dass die 2 Schrauben vom Halteblech an der Kickstarterwelle sich gelöst haben.
Dadurch kann der Kickstarter auch schonmal klemmen. Du musst also den Kupplungsdeckel abbauen (wenn Du Glück hast bleibt die
Dichtung ganz), baust den Kupllungskorb ab (6 Schrauben in der Ausrückplatte und dahinter befindet sich ein Sprengring). Danach hast Du freien Zugang zum Kickstartermechanismus. Du siehst dort das Kickstarter-Zahnrad,
welches Du herausnimmst und dann siehst Du schon das Halteblech. Die Schrauben klebst Du wieder mit starkem! Locktite ein, sonst löst es sich evtl. irgendwann nocheinmal. Normalerweise schraubt man dieses Blech auch im Leben nie heraus.
Beim Zusammenbau achtest Du darauf, dass zu zunächst die Welle mit der Feder einhängst und den Einrastpin hinter den Anschlag am Blech einhakst. Das ist ein bißchen fummelig, steckst am besten den Kickstarter halb auf die Welle und drehst sie damit rechts herum und schiebst dann den Pin hinter den Anschlag, so dass die Welle in der
Position stehen bleibt.
Danach baust Du einfach den anderen Kram wieder zusammen und es sollte nicht mehr klemmen.
Du brauchst also ein bißchen an Werkzeug, was Du nun hoffentlich vorher schon abschätzen kannst, auch wie aufwendig
das alles wird. Also es geht vom Aufwand her, nur das Loctite muß natürlich hart werden.
Moped kannst Du auf die Seite legen, wenn Du das Öl nicht ablassen möchtest.

For hribman: danke fuer die detaillierte Ausfuehrung!!!!! Werkzeug- und Ausfuehrungstechnisch seh ich keine Probleme...hab` ich drauf!!! :wink:

Location SoCal stimmt schon.....bin fuer AUDI 2 Jahre hier in L.A.! Die Berg steht zwar in Deutschland (hier in USA fahre ich YZ450), aber bei jedem Heimatbesuch wird sie reaktiviert und zaubert immer wieder ein Grinsen auf mein Gesicht!!
Also, nochmals Danke!!!!!!!!.....und falls du Bike Equipment aus USA brauchst, lass` mich wissen, ich versuch` zu helfen!!!!!

I experienced this problem, and after lots of mechanical suggestions, it was just the kick-starter-lever that locked itself against the blue plastic protection on the frame.

das ist ja super cool mit LA und Audi.
Aus USA hab ich früher immer mal versucht an die Fleshgear Klamotten zu kommen.
Mittlerweile gibts die ja bei uns wieder bei Melahn zu bestellen. Aber in
den Staaten sind die wohl einiges günstiger.
Wenn sowas wirlich kein Problem ist komme ich viell. mal auf
das Angebot zurück. Mal sehn.
