kickstart question

On my fc 600, should the kickstart bottom out on the footpeg/frame like it always has :roll:

'02 Fc 550/6 and it bottoms on the footpeg as well.

I've read it somewhere, probably in the Doc, that you should rotate the kickstart lever forward one notch on the spline, it'll give a longer kick stroke, but probably still hits the peg.
