hi guys new to the site, and im looking for some advice...

stoped for fuel went to start the bike it fired then stoped, ive had no probs with the bike,i was on the bike for the short journey to the petrol station,at normal road speeds under 30mph,my bike has a tuned 550 dcr motor in it (big piston ported and polished head crank slipper clutch done along with other engine mods?i raced supermoto 2 weeks ago and it was great,
all i did was kick the bike to start it and now the kickstart is locked, tried puting it in gear but its still locked, got it home took out the plug and still no joytook out the startermotor still locked plug was perfect just did a oil change dont ride it hard cant think whats wrong..

could it be ceased or is some thing wrong in the kickstart.....please help

Pull the clutch cover off and have a look. You may have broken a kickstart shaft....it happens.

If you folloBergers advise 99% sure you will see your problem and most likley easy to fix. Kick shaft has been known to break
Let us know what you find inside

The shafts will just break, possibly a temper issue or maybe a decompressor issue. If it's not the kicktart shaft you will be able to get a good look at the timing chain. You will also be able to look for bearing failure as well with the cover off.

welcome to UHE mate. first of all you bring shame upon our education system as was not skuled dead proper!

seized was the word you wanted. ceased is well de-ceased! infact you may be said to have spelt it right after all!!!!!!

i think you're a brit so where are you from and please take the time to put it in your signature.

kickstart shaft is a good start but it could be a lot worse i'm afraid! you'll have to lay the bike on it's RHS and take off the exhaust, gearlever, kickstart, remove coolant, waterpump and then sidecover.

pull the cluch assembly off and check the kickstart and put a 30mm socket on the crank gear and try and turn it. let us all know what you have.....

My 470 did the same thing. It ended up up being a screw that backed out that holds the engagement sledge in place. $28 later it was fixed and doing fine (I replaced both screws, the sledge and all of the springs while I was in there). I dont know if that is what yours did but it is a good place to start.

that has happened to me twice now. very good point! it turns out the kickstart can rub against the top half of the countersunk screw which of course turns the screws anti-clockwise.
