I tried to search and found nothing, so I have to ask. I am the new owner of one of the finest motorcycles I have had the pleasure of riding. It's a '96 FC400 I bought for $1200 and it runs like a top! The only issue I am having is it lacks a kickstand. Is one made for this bike, or does one of the clamp ons work for it?

A friend of mine has one on his KTM, I wans't sure if it or something like it would work.

I called the guys in Gresham, they we a big help, but didn't list anything for that old of a bike. Thanks,

jd

Hi JD:

Husaberg makes or made a weld on kickstand at one time. I have one which I purchased on Ebay for my 01 470fx. I will see if I have the part # but I don't think so. Contact your local dealer or Dan @ Motoxotica 707-446-4282.I have been trying to get Pro Moto Billet to make one as their KTM ones are nice. Send them an e-mail. If they get enough requests maybe they will build it. I know of no other aftemarket kick stands available at this time. You may need to adapt an aftermarket bolt-on from another brand.

Thank you so much. I sent MotoExotica an email, I will also check ebay. I have a triangle stand, but it's not much help in the bush.

There are very few things I feel like changing on this bike, it's damn nice as is. The clutch seems to have a little grab to it, I am going to adjust that this week and see if I can get it to let loose a little.

I have also been thinking about the Z-Start auto clutch. A shop in Portland has them and the owner runs one on his Husky and swears by it. I am a new rider coming from a downhill mountain bike background, the thought of both front and rear brake levers on the bars is sweet to me. Maybe go so far are switching them to left/front and right/rear

Sorry JD I don't have a part # for you. Got a picture though.

thanks again, i also got an email from Dan at motoexotica for the same stand in the pic for $57.50 plus a spring. That beats the $85 universal price I was quoted, thanks guys.

If that stand is the same as the OEM on earlier bikes it probably is not worth welding on the bracket supplied with the kit. The leg is quite good though and looks & works well with a heavier fabricated bracket. The original has been cut off my bike & replaced. Reply if you would like photos.

Dan said it was an oem stand that should bolt up (didn't think it was welded), may need a little modification if any. If you can post some picturers of the one you have, that would be great. I would rather have a bolt on just so it is easier to replace when broken, but I can weld well enough.

The bracket must be welded on and the leg bolts up. Show us your heavy duty bracket Brad.

Hey James -

In '94 there was a bolt-on stand available for your bike from the factory. I worked pretty well and was easy to remove if the need to race overcomes you.

Glad to see you're getting all of your questions answered!
