Kick lever

I guess the kick lever would be considered mechanical..

Anyway, I picked up my 02 FX470 yesterday and noticed there's not a bolt in the kick lever to hold it on. I doubt it will come off but I would like to put something in there to make sure. Can anyone tell me the thread size of the bolt that goes in there? I am hoping to ride tomorrow and thought I would stop in a hardware shop and pick up a bolt to use temporarily.

The parts manual for my '99 FE400 says its a 6X12. The book says that fits all bikes to that date, so you you could try it.

As Jay have told you, that is a normal M6X20 Allen bolt which you can find in a normal bolt shop. Don't forget the washer.

It is also recommended to place a little loctite mojo there. I do, yet mine seems to keep loosening now and then... A spring washer may help too.
