I'm thinking to change the Dellorto carburator in my FE400e '02.
Can I fit a FCR37 of Yamaha WR250f 4 stroke 2001?

i would have said that the 37 was fine. a 37 flatslide is the equivalant of a 38 roundslide in air flow.

hello

yes you can fit it. it will only give the same performance as the dell orto in 'top speed'. but it will be smoother at low revs.

make sure you buy it with the throttle cables and the throttle housing complete.

there are jetting settings in the doc.

you must slice 5mm off the inlet rubber you have and at the back of the carb.

your bellmouth must have the same outside diameter as the dell orto. this is the only difficult task sometimes. 66mm is the dell orto OD.

you'll need to organise a 2 into i feed for the carb: we usually use a 2 into 1 T-junction.

also you can remount the idle screw to sit on the right of the cargb but you'll see this when you get it.

I've a Keihin FCR-MX 37 now too. I've not the best jetting and I've interest for your ask.

Please, tell as the best jetting conf.

Thank !!!

to the two of you...

It took me years to develop the jetting that you can find in the DOC (carberation). It is still close to what i run nowadays. However, every jet is different to what they come supplied with so I suggest you buy a lot of jets, needles and bits or I do a kit through my E-bay shop.

I fitted a 39mm MK1 FCR to my FE400. As soon as I can access my gallery I'll post a link to ome pictures that may help you figure ouit what's needed.

Things I found out:-
There are lots of variants on carb particulars depending on what model bike they were originally fitted to. For example, mine has no choke circuit which caused me some stress until I figured that out.
My carb had a spigot which was almost a good fit for the stock rubber inlet flange. I had to machine approx 5mm off the end of the aluminum spigot which screws into the body of my carb.
The inlet side of my carb is a good fit for the stock rubber airbox sock.
The carb is a tight fit where the accelerator pump body just about clears the starter motor.
My carb already had the fuel inlet modified to the right side with a Sudco manifold fitted (nice!).
My carb came fitted with a "powernow" flap in the inlet trumpet. Seems to work OK and I haven't fiddled with it.
The main air jet (MAJ) and pilot air jet (PAJ) are hidden under the inlet trumpet incase you're wondering.
Taffys jet kit is great! Get one.

Here's a thread about jetting my carb. Take note that my carb has no choke circuit so is likely different to yours in this respect.

here's a tread about throttle cables. I went with the motion pro cables and twistgrip.
