I recently purchased a Clarke tank for my 2005 FE-550 and decided to add the newer cooling fan since I now have room for it. I placed the fan about 1/2 way up the radiator so it would exhaust out of the hole in the tank. It works great! The 2005 doesn't have the thermostatic switch fitting in the bottom of the radiator so I just used a toggle switch to turn it on. I ended up leaving it on all day anyway. I also made my own radiator guards out of expanded steel sheet metal. Then finally I wrapped my exhaust system. The kit for this (that I purchased on E-Bay) includes heat resistant silicone paint which seals the material. It works well enough that I can touch the exhaust with a gloved hand right after shutting the engine off.
