I ride at about 4800 feet and was wondering if the lineweaver needle would help? I have some problems with stalling and 1/4 throtle hesitation.
I have placed the powernow and p38 on my 05 fc 550 and it has helped some, but it is still a little problem.

dales needle is an improvement on the OEM but your problem doesn't sound to be the needle. i don't believe in those P-38s i'm sorry!

go into fuel and look for a really long thread on the FCR carb. lots of figures and tests appear there. if you're at 5,000ft then perhaps your MJ should come down. we're talking 10 off i should think. your stalling is probably a rich condition.

cheers!

My 05 450 required a larger pilot and richer needle. The dealer made the change before I took delivery and it carburates very well. The main was left stock. Of course yours is a 550 not a 450.

Should you decide to try Dale's kit remember that it favors/requires accelerator pump and nozzle removal. The basic premise is that the U.S. Bergs are jetted notoriously lean from the factory in order to pass EPA emission standards. The pump shot tries to help make up the difference but tends to exaccerbate an imprecise A/F mixture. If you do a lot of low speed technical riding the drool of the pump may hamper your jetting progress.

Should you decide to remove the pump and try Dales kit Joe USA and his 04 550 did the testing and he could also give you a few pointers.
