I'm prepping my 450 for dry dirt(if it ever warms up here). I removed my e-starter and battery, as it has always kicked very easy, and still does even in winter. It looks really cool w/out al the electrical equipement, in addition to the weight loss. I have been trying to get a hold of Mr. Lineweaver for one of his needle and jet kits, but as you all know he is a very busy man, and I do not wish to bug him too much.

My second choice is Buzzards $40 spruce up. I rode Kadlec's '07 with Buzzard's carb mods and it seemed to be a nice improvement. What do you think, Dale's set-up or the $40 spruce up?

If you tested a set up that you like, then go for it. We've honestly beat the jetting topic to a pulp already, if you search the posts. When that happens, it's a bit tougher to get another thread going on the same subject.

I don't have experience with Dale's kit, but Buzzard's set up works well. We installed Fritz's jetting at Moab about a year ago, and he liked it once we tweaked it a bit.

There are different ways to get good results, really lots of different variables depending on needle taper/ size, fuel squirt duration/timing, etc.

RE: Re: jetting options

Yeah, sorry to bore you guys, just wondering if dale's needle is worth the wait/expense. I did search the forums, but few relate to high altitude except Buzzards. I would rather just reflash the ecm and be done with it  . Can't wait for F.I.

Depending on the needle you are running Dales needle will probably be richer than stock. As you need to lean the mixture as elevation increases Dales needle may be heading in the wrong direction for high altitude use.

Even though I don't have first hand experience with either kit, my 1st choice would be Buzzard's $40 spruce up. Buzzard has spent a lot of real world time (versus controlled atmosphere on a dyno), to get the most out of the FCR and from what I have read, he really knows his carburation. Plus he's a local guy for you if you have questions or need help, plus he rides the same sort of high elevation trails that you and Fritz ride. Well, just the fact that he rides, is a plus in my book. I'd go for the Buzzard Spruce Up without the slightest hesitation.

it's all relevant to that MJ eric?

i recall on TT that (as usual) i couldn't get everyone's MJ down low on the WR side eetc. a few DRs started coming out and they started to appear on the Wr page asking for advice. i then got pinged by them a lot as well and told them i was chuffed with a 150MJ and absolutely they would be ok IMO!

a few of them were from colorado and when i next visited them for DR cam timing they'd all agreed on 135-140MJ. what can i say? it's a state of mind. WR boys wouldn't shgift off 170 and the DR boys were already on 135.

go figure!

Taffy
