installing water pump seal, what side faces out.

I'm doing my regular maintenance on my 2005 fs650e. I have always installed the water pump seal with the spring on the inside. I have never had any leaking problems. I read somewhere that the spring on the seal should be facing the impeller. Just wondering how everybody else installes them. Thanks Dave

are you using a factory one? brown seal with a blue metal periphery?

they are the best. and as Ned says: spring side facing YOU!
