Ok since The ride in the great north is off I want to go on a vacation with Four buds in Idaho. I have been in the Baumgardner area for 5 years and would like to try somewhere else. Suggestions? I know some of you guys are from Idaho so lets have it. Pm if you don't want all the world to know about your place but I would like to try some other areas. I have tried the Sunvalley area but didnt like it as much. Last time there the trails had not been cleared for years and we spent most of our time on the Baumgardner side anyway.

We like to camp without a host and also be real near a hotspring for the morning baths that us old guys need to get going.

Thanks

Hi Bobzilla
there are several spots to ride in N Idaho, Kellogg has riding for weeks
it is remote so it is easy to get lost the riding season is short july to oct
just N of Kellog is lost creek and it has losts of riding the same conditions
as Kellogg, between Couer D Alene and Sandpoint there are lots of trail
some of trails are connected w/ roads, in NE WA close to the Canadian border you have two trail systems little Pend oreille trail sys. and
Batey bould trail sys. that are connected w each other you can spend
several days there some of the trails are tight none of these places
has hot springs if you want more info just let me know
so long

You might consider Red River Hot Springs near Elk City, Idaho. Besides Elk City, there are places to camp or stay in nearby Dixey. This place is not well known but a great place to ride. I have a cabin nearby on Newsome Creek and have ridden nearly every road/trail in the Nez Perce National Forest. If you want a real trip, try the Magruder corridor road to Darby, Montana. 100+ miles of dirt over the original indian trail/miners route to the Montana gold fields.

the narrow nasty *** uncleared trails are the best part of Idaho. Now don't get me wrong, they are tough and I spend a good part of my ride bitching about not being able to see jack or having to get around trees. But that is the fun part. Any dog can ride a freeway. I'm from Boise, so most of the riding I know is around here. Look into a trip around the Yellowpine area or Deadwood area for this part of the state. Yellowpine has a great harmonica festival that would be a good complement to riding. Also there are several old gost towns to check out.

No Brendan, It means that is where we are thinking of taking a vacation there instead of AB. Wanna go?

Email or pm me about your trip to China.

Hi Taffy,
I understand what you are saying when you say "without Fry it had to stop, right",the reality is that there are not that many people in area that have enough interest and/or knowledge to organize such an event. So without Fry doing it there really is likely no one else.

Hey Taff
What would we mere mortals do without a fearless canuck leading the way? Why we would all be lost ................or found at the bar

I was hoping to get log crossing lessons from Lee and then give him desert lessons down here at a later date.

Oh well I guess its greenlaning in merry ole in 08 right??????? you will have a new berg for me to flog right?? BUDDY

house wise you won't believe what pisspots we live in over here compared to the states. there's just NO room here! i am however trying to buy another house and i'm in the process right now.

many a slip twixt cup an lip' though so we will await the outcome.

if i get it i would like to invite the whole of UHE over!!!

seriously though, i live in what most here would describe as the weakest area to ride in britian. flat for miles, no hedges, no trees. a different kind of beauty but all the same: remote, NOT 3D etc etc.

if i get myself sorted both you and fry are meeting HERE!!!!! and yes i would lay everything on in proper style.

warning:
our teeth are bad (green usually!)
we make awful coffee
we make jolly good tea
we have an island climate which i don't think you can even imagine!!!!!

regards

Taffy

Yes, that's it. Haven't been there yet, going to visit end of June. Wondering if I should take the 'Berg. With gas prices probably drive the car though.

Why?

I think we have enough interest to have The Ride there.

Berger should have my 501 running soon, so I'm game for it.

I'm sure you're right. I gotta think about it before the time comes, even if gas doesn't go back down.

whether or not you guys go to idaho, i'll be there 4-5 days for the isde qualifier, and again august 1-7 at baumgartner for spodefest, and perhaps 1 other trip in july or late august or early september just cuz i like to ride up there.

if you don't mind riding all day and taking very few breaks, i can lead rides around baumgartner pretty effectively.
