Just bought a 2011 fe570 and would like as much info about mods people have done to correct problems and anything else that might have cropped up over the last 2 models helps to know things before they happen.

I have had my FE for just under a year, the only problem I have had is the water pump seal wasnt seated correctly. Never had any other issues and is by far the best bike I have ever owned

I've been getting some intermittent camchain noise recently which became much louder on the last ride. Changed the oil yesterday and with the bike running in the garage it was very noticable, being loudest at around 2500rpm. I understand the '10> bikes have a modified tensioner fitted with a spring/ratchet mechanism in addition to the hydraulic action from the oil? Took out the tensioner and couldn't see anything obvious. The ratchet action seems very corse. Reset the tensioner and after re-fitting, the ratchet was very reluctant to unlock and release the piston and I had the thing on and off the bike several times trying to find the problem. Eventually got it back in and unlocked and it now seems OK and quiet so I'm not really sure what's going on there but I'll be keeping a close eye on it. If it comes back I might look into an after-market manual tensioner. Other than this the bike's been great and the mods I fitted from new are:

Rad fan (gets hot on slow trails as most bikes in this class do).
Exhaust wrap and tank underside heat proofing to prevent fuel heating. I guess this is more of a problem in hot climates but I reckoned do it and forget it just in case.
OE map switch but now running a modified indicator switch as I took the indicator lights off.

Plus a few 'convenience' extras like TTO temp & RPM gauges, a key switch and rear fender tool bag.

I don't know about the 2011 models, but I replaced the cam chain tensioner on mine with a Dirt Tricks tensioner. I am given to understand that in 2010 Husaberg made changes to the tensioner.

I wrapped the exhaust to cut down on the heat in that area where it passes through the gas tank and I installed a fan kit because I ride slow in technical areas a lot. I have the 70 deg. subframe tank.

I put a safety wire into the silencer to hold the screen on the end. I am probably going to wrap the silencer too because it has more than once burnt some large holes in my pants when I have fallen. I am putting a carbon fiber guard on the header pipe section for the same reason.

My main gas tank was replaced on warranty due to a crack in the holes at the gas pump mount bracket. I gather Husaberg has strengthened the bracket in newer models and maybe the tank there too.

Beyond that, when you have the bike apart, check the wiring in the shock and exhaust areas, it sometimes rubs and causes problems.

Forgot to mention I wrapped the loom next to the shock in a piece of old inner tube for extra protection.

I found this yesterday on KTMtalk:

Through continual product monitoring and feedback, Husaberg has changed the air
filter carrier to a screen type p.n. 812.06.016.100 beginning with models produced
after July 1st 2009. Husaberg has also developed improved competition mappings
for all 2009-2010 450 & 570 motorcycles, which is designed for use with this new
screened air filter carrier.
» Husaberg is recommending that these updates be performed during the next
scheduled service interval. Please note that the updated mapping is only a
replacement for the old competition mapping (KM81XEU0927001).
» Before flashing the new mapping files, the XC_1 software has to be updated to the
latest version (v.1.11/1.22) along with the mapping update. Please reference
TB1002 & TB1003.
NOTE: This Technical Bulletin only affects certain VIN numbers! Please check the VIN by performing a Motorcycle History search in Husaberg Dealer.net to determine if it’s affected. If the motorcycle is affected you will see a link to the bulletin and its repair status in the history results. Husaberg North America will not warranty units whose VIN numbers are not linked to this bulletin as it does not apply to them. It is the responsibility of the dealer to determine if the unit requires this update by checking the vehicle history.

I guess this is suppose to cure the backfiring through the intake, and flame outs.

This bulletin came out in 2009, just to clarify.
