as manmy of you know, we've had the on going saga of the rogue ignition timing since I started here. Lineaweaver warned us that the ignition could sometimes make a strobe see double etc.
as the Doc says, a fresh mark needs marking on the flywheel and tipp-ex'ing. the timing mark on the stator though wants to be about 1mm to the left of an imaginary centre line.
the rub always came when you stropbed the friggin thing and it wouldn't say 6 degrees but 9, or 11, or 8 degrees of advance. I have to confess that there are husabergs out there with the timing arranged in different ways but we have recently stuck to a policy of simply sussing if it wants 6 or 12 degrees advance. once we decide that we stick with it and the mark stays nearly always either o: 'DEAD IN THE MIDDLE' or again '1MM TO THE LEFT OF CENTRE'.
since we've stuck to this things have been a lot better so from now on there are no more ******** 9 degrees or 7 degrees etc. 6 or 12 is the rule.
regards
Taffy
