Well, I got my suspension back from MX-Tech on Friday and today I installed the forks and shock back into the bike, and did a bit of work, mostly flushed the clutch line, since I was basically stuck in gear.

I only rode on the dirt road by my house but sensations are coming back quickly and I love the new suspension, so far, although it is quite stiff in the forks (I have .48 springs now) but the handling seems to have increased.

Oh and the bike started at the second kick, while it did not run since my accident. Which proves that once muscle memory is built, it is very hard to lose.

Well, it feels good to ride again! Still have to go through a lot more physical therapy, but I am now considering getting off-road insurance just for the extra medical coverage. Oh and I do need to wear a bit more armor.

I hit 45 mph on the dirt road after 2 minutes on the bike, I guess I have to leave the memory of the crash in the back of my head when I ride and stand more.

Good to hear as I was wondering. :wink:

Even the best riders get injured, and no matter how much armour you have on, a crash is still gonna hurt.

At least when I broke my elbow, the physio therapist was a hottie.
Even though she hurt me, I went back as much as I could. 8O

Just try to remember that no matter how bad you get hurt in a crash, it ALWAYS could be worse. In my first bad crash I took out a quad head on. It totaled the quad and my bike. As a matter of fact it blew the bike out from under me and back 75 feet. The doctors told me that if I had not been wearing my boots, I probably would have lost my foot, since it took the majority of the impact. So that's my PSA for wearing the correct protective gear.

Glad to hear you're back on a bike froggy. I was wondering how long it would be when I was watching them pull your head out of the sand :)

@sirsumm:

Funny, but I would have taken your PSA's moral to be: Don't ride around quads. We just leave the riding spot when they show up. Backwards on a directional ST course while drinking a beer and toting a passenger is not only an occurance with these guys out there, but it's common enough that it doesn't surprise us anymore.

thanks,

glad you are back. i too am recovering from injury. i broke my elbow in moab a month ago, and i was on my mtn bike. i took the berg out for a rip down the dirt road from my house to where it still closed due to snow. the arm is still very stiff and weak. the doctor said i need to work on staightening it out, so i thought what better tool than the arm stretching power of the 550. it felt great to be on the bike, but quite odd not being able to straighten my arm. this was the first time ridding the berg at home and getting to open it up. no 5th gear wheelies like down in phoenix, amazing how much power i loose at 9000 feet. hopefully the arm will be fine for the idaho city race.

Good for you bon monsieur Le Frog!
We were quite worried about you when we were at the end of 11 mile wash waiting and found out that you had crashed.
You have made good progress and with a little good fortune and common sense you'll be back on the trails soon. Don't push too hard Nic.
Dez.
