is there a better ignition system i can upgrade to because this brass pin and no spark cap doesnt seem very efficient to me and i think that poor connection may be an issue for me

o yeah and how do i get ahold of this sparkz character because i want a quality stator hopefully somthing that will last

Go to the member list find Sparks and PM him..............sorted.

Brass pin and no spark plug......... that doesn't sound very standard Hitop.

thanks for the directions and its how the bike came to me the plug wire at the coil doesnt have ne spark cap on it its just a pin petruding from the recess were the wire recieves but the plug came out of the box with just the threads were i assumed a spark cap should go but thats how it seats i geuss but it luks like there is a better way to do it i just need to know wat kind of coil to get on it and i can fabricate a new ignition wire to my liking. i just dont want to over work the stator... also is the stator bolt and retaining nut reverse thread? i am trying to be as carefull as possible with this ol thing i want it in top condition wen im done and the tdc mark is a little vauge to me can u give me some advise on removal id appreciate it

Firstly, what's your bike?
Sounds like you're talking about the SEM coil but a model year would be good to stop us guessing.
If your talkin about the black SEM the plug lead just screws onto the brass pin on the coil. I used a bit of silicon as well to keep the moisture out and help secure it a bit better.

when that bike went to flagstaff, it had a plug cap that looked like this:
is it still there?

98 husaberg fe400 if its not too late-sorry to be vague. yes the ngk coil wire is there but has heat damage. still conducting elect. i dont have an ohm reading though. i am having trouble with the ownesdoc i cant find my model/year but i am a little computer retarted. i have began removing the stator and just need to pull it out but i really just want to replace all ignition components including the coil and wire just to be safe

the doc is for bikes 2001-2008. it all started when i collated info on my bike.

stator

coils expensive eh? well that sucks. so i neet to pull the stator and have everything, to the best of my knowledge,is pulled away and i just need to slide it out....yeah right...do i need a puller or slide hammer or is it just being stuborn?

you need a flywheel puller to take off the flywheel.it screws into the flywheel and then a bolt screws in and loosems it. Talk to Motoxotica, thats where I got mine. The nut that holds the flywheel on is reverse thread. Once that is off you will see the stator. 3 bolts hold iit on.
You need to get the puller with the right thread pitch, (I now have three!) The one that works on my 98 600 is: Puller M26x1.5 SEM MO ( that is what it says on the box)
Part number? 6276807 (Thats what it says on the box)

ok pulse circuit on stator is definatly done for around 3-400 megaohms way below spec.so i have read that the ktm stator580.31.002.050 works on 98 and prior models without modification. if this is true i am able to get a hold of this thing locally does anyone know what model ktm this is off of?

SEM coil

I had found the HV lead at coil came loose from internal pin, solder on new HV lead to coil. stator had been rewired by Sparks (great job). after these to reworks the Husaberg started some times on first kick with choke on, the first in 5 years. Thanks Sparks.

I borrowed a SEM off a 98 400 LC4 KTM for my 98 501 for a couple of weeks a few years ago. Worked fine, just had to change the connectors, so that should be the part number, whatever it is.

It has a sparks on it now and its the best option AFAIK, works great with improved starting as others have found.
