Look to the left of the screen and click on Owner's Doc. The very first topic is an explanation of how to tell what year model your bike is.
I don't know what you mean by electrics, but if it is a stator issue, then there are people on this board that can help.
First figure out what you have, and then go from there.

Go to this page, then scroll down to the stator section. It explains how to test for failure and also some common repairable problems in regards to connections and such.
The stator is a common point of failure. Before you continue, you should test it and see where you stand.

Baz, you live so close to Dave Clarke Racing that I'd be tempted to get it down to him to set up for you at first. That way you'll be working off a decent baseline for the maintanence schedule going foward.
