Today I gave my 400 fe 1999 berg a makeover.
I fitted the rearparts and front from a 2002 berg. To give my old berg a more modern look.

It took about 2 hours to figureout and remake the rear plastics to fit.
But now I´m ready and the reasult is better then I had expected.

So if anyone is intressed in see how it turned out. I could e-mail a picture. So someone can upload it. I don´t have ftp and can´t upload my self.

Hi Perry:
I would definitely like to see how it came out and am sure others would too. You can ask for a gallery in a post, then upload it to the gallery and link the picture address to a post by using the insert image function.

If you want to email the picture to me I will post it for you right away.

If any one is intressed I could upload pictures from the constrution and write exactly how i did when I remaked the rear plastic

RE: late plastics on an early bike

Hi Perry,

congrats on the great job! I've always loved the look of the 200+ bikes, but many like myself who would never be able to afford one would see this as a viable alternative to a later looking bike.

You've done a great job on it, from the looks.

thanks,

Nice Job Perry!

Only one thing:
How about using the new seat also? Is it possible to combine the new seat with the old tank?
I saw it once on Ebay, but could not get information from the seller of that bike...

I think new rearparts, new seat, old tank would be even more beautiful than the new bergs with the round holes in the spoilers on the tank...

Greets!

I haven´t tried to match the new seat,The problem for me will be that i have shorten the rear plastic and moved it more forward than original on the 02. So the distans to the new seat is to short.

But next week I´m gonna borrow my friends 02 and try it out with he´s seat.

So I will come back with report about that.

is that the 'droop-nose' 2002 front mudguard?
great job though-well done! a decal set will set it off. here in the UK you can get racing number yellow backgrounds from danger-uk the graphics people and they protect 95%. then in two or three years you get new racing number backgrounds.

regards

Taffy

That really looks good. Can I ask you where you got the seat cover, I
like it! Good job

Thanks for all comments!

It´s the 2002 mudguard.
And the seat cover is the standard seatcover on 1999
It colud definatly fit this plastic eith the operation I did on a FE501 96
Just put som time and effort in it!

Hello Perry,

Several folks with older Bergs would like to know the details of how you fit the 02 plastics to your 99 Berg, so please upload pictures and instructions!

Thanks in advance,

Joe
