I almost exclusively ride my 2005 FE450. This recent clean up on the 01 FX 470 received : new fenders, fork guards and number plate (I had purchased a complete plastic kit on e-bay quite some time ago), tires are one or two rides new, new head gasket, new cam chain tensioner and guide, 2003 rocker arms, new YTZ7S battery, new grips, redone breather mod, 04 550/650 starter and bracket, just about all new hardware, new radiator, new waterpump bearing/gasket & o-rings, all seals on the left side cover, everthing was scrubbed with Simple Green and a toothbrush except the tank with Soft Scrubwith bleach and the carb disassembled, cleaned and all the jets unplugged from sitting. I spent about 5 weekends on it. The tank was still damp from the in & out cleaning but I did hit the e-button and it cranked over nicely with the big starter motor and repositioned autodecompression spring. Next weekend we will be at the desert but the following weekend I will attempt to start her.

That is probably a true statement :D

Replaceing all the nuts and bolts with new ones really gives it that never been ridden look, also polishing the sides of the seat with automotive rubbing compound takes off that layer of dead dull plastic.

I am truly a detailer at heart.

No doubt, Husabutt's 01' FC470 is nothing short of immaculate! Thanks for sharing Eric. I can't wait to see your 97' 600 (hint, hint).

Thanks for the kind words. I already have a good start on the 600. Its been thoroughly cleaned and the electrical connections cleaned up with some new parts and a new YTZ14S battery wedged in. With 230 CCA's it should spin up nicely.
