Does anyone know when Husaberg quit building Husabergs? Kind of like Husqvarna and Cajiva. Also, did a company named Follon, could be wrong, build motors for Husaberg and who builds the motors for Husaberg now.Later Jeff

folan built high performance v-twins out of two berg singles and i think that Highland motorcycles use a developement of these engines in some of their bikes.
only person i recall talking about them on here is DL.
believe that production of bergs moved to austria in '04 but they claim developement still goes on in sweden.
And finally i believe that the engines are built in house.

As far as I know, Husaberg has always built Husaberg motors.

Folan is a Swedish engine manufacture. The Folan and Husaberg motors bare some common resemblances. I am sure Folan design had alot of influence on the eary Bergs.

I'm sure Lineaweaver could give us some more details.

You can search Folan on this site and glean alittle info.

the last year of swedish production was '02 model from late '01 through. don't mistaken a change in factory with a major change in the bike.

i used to race against hedlunds in the late eighties so i know that they had nothing to do with husaberg.

regards

Taffy

the last year for swedish husaberg where 03, last day for the swedish factory march 03
so the new model year starts in april, Husaberg, Highland and Folan all are former
husqvarna designer/ engineers, Thomas grafted a fourstroke top end on to a 430 case
I think this happen around 1980
later VIKING

http://www.folan.se/ and http://www.hedlunds-motor.se/
I don't know when the watercooling was introduced to the Husqvarna 4-stroke but I think I saw a manual for the 1983 motor and it was aircooled with cooling fins. Iv'e also seen a 1985 picture of a water cooled engine. ( It could easily be mistaken for a KTM RFS motor  )Hedlund made many motors for husqvarna and his designs must have been a source of inspiration for the husqvarna designers. His motors used chain splash lubrication for the head and he may have told the husqvarna guys about some of his findings.

Regards

Viking answered the query.KTM now builds Husaberg engines in their plant in Austria.Last day for Swedish production was Mar,03,2003.While Folan shares certain looks and features of Husaberg engines they are not built by Husaberg.
