Hello everyone. I'm considering buying a Husaberg, ''10 or '11 390 or 450. I'm not new to dirt-biking or motorcycles as I've been riding for 30+ years. I currently ride a 450 EXC and 300 EXC (both plated), and I have a KTM 990 Adventure.

Questions... Will I get the same long lasting quality from the Berg as the Katoom? What are the things I should look out for? Are there any known issues that should be addressed? I really like the look of the bike and would love to add one to the stable. Thanks!

I too came from an exc 450, my berg 450 09 is the best bike ive ever had!! by a mile :D

The new bergs are pretty bullet proof go with the FE 2011 if you can that way it has the strengthened frame and CC forks. Me personally if I were to buy anther bike it would be the 570 berg

I found a good deal on a 2011 450 FX. I'll be trail riding it. Would this be a bike similar to my 450 EXC?

Nope, Gear box is different and has no lights the FX is cloeset to the XC line the suspension is also a bit stiffer and the muffler also does not have a spark arrestor

I think I can live with the 6 speed tranny, close ratio (more shifting?) and no headlight and speedo, I can add them later. The spark arrestor is a none issue. Suspension wise... I prolly can tune it to my liking.

The FX's appear to be a smoking deal right now. True????

Yes they had issues moving them so the prices are vary low now. On the upside it already has the competition mapping installed so throw an exhaust on the bike and go

I have owned 7 husabergs , when most people never seen a berg, The best bergs I ever had were from 2004 t0 2007
the 2009 berg I have now is a good bike, yet it is very heavy, Thats how Igot into bergs ,They were very light 4 strokes, when KTM bought them, they changed the stator and carb and made them dependable,, In 09 they changed the motor and its a great motor ,yet got very heavy and they did not protect the electronics or harness for endro riding, This is the first berg I ever had to push and ask for help to get running again !!! Im a Husaberg Fan from when they first started Yet at this time Im looking for somthing eles,,,,,,,,,,,,

Well I did ride the new generation bike and liked it a lot. Mostly the turning and the throttle response.
The weight I did notice from a stand still but not while riding it too much.
I'm sure it would be more of an issue if you got stalled or stuck somewhere.
My friend really liked my 2005 FE 650 and said it handled very good. I agree of course.
It's also got a lot of power and feels light and is not an overburden to push.
So the way I really feel about the new bike is that the FI is awsome and it turns great but I'm waiting a little
longer for one to see a few more changes come about.
Don't know what that might be but I'm interested in what the 2013s will be like

Aside from the fuel pump issues I haven't had any other type issue on my bike. And all of those issues were fixed under warranty.

Im not sure what is worse pushing the 450 or trying to start the 650 after a crash or if it is having issues if your e-start is not 100 percent kicking that pig gets old quick
