I was out riding my 2013 Husaberg FE450 today, as normal the bike was running fine.

It was my first ride after the bike had sat for about two months, I had turned it off and on about 5-6 times during the ride to stop and chat to my friend who was also riding.

The 7th time I started it and it took off as normal then the bike cut out and I lost all power, the bike won't start with the button and I couldn't clutch start it.

When I walk the bike, the speedometer comes on.

I've brought it home and put it on the trickle charger, the charger is giving me the green light to say the battery is full, what the hell, the bike still won't start.

I've checked all electrical connectors to make sure nothing has come lose and to my surprise it's all in tact.

Does anyone have any idea of what this could be, I'd like to try and diagnose myself before I take it to a mechanic and spend possibly hundreds.

Some background on the bike.

- I've had the bike since about 80 hours, It's been serviced every 5 hours with new oil and filter.
- The valves have just been checked at the mechanic 5 hours ago.
- I've never had any issues with the bike, always used 95 or 98 RON Fuel and always kept the air filter clean every 2-3 rides it was changed.

SOLVED - IT WAS A 20A MAIN FUSE WHICH HAD BLOWN.

Guessing have You tried jump starting it ? Might a bad battery. I had one fully charged tried starting it volts drop from 13.1v to 9v instantaneously. Replace it all fine.

I did try jump starting it, however the terrain we were in (really dusty) made it tricky because the wheel just skidded and slid in the thick 'dust'.

I will give it a go on the asphalt when I get time, and if that doesn't work I'll proceed to my next step when I get time will be to put a multi meter across it and see what I get.

I've got a feeling it's the battery as it was sitting for a fair while and the battery is 115 Hours Old.

If not, I might have to pull the whole loom out and inspect it to see if there is any bad connections... Which will be a bit of a job.

In America Jump starting is hooking it to an other battery. Sorry for the miscommunication. Bump starting is what We call push starting here.

If the battery is dead you can't jump start it. It need some current even then. So hook up jumper cables from a friends bike and try.

The first big question?

You said the bike died while riding it? Does the bike turn over eg: the starter turn the motor? If not than you need to check the battery for anything above 12.5 volts and for amperage if you have a load tester? If the battery shows good? Than you need to check for 12v at the solenoid when you push the starter button. If you have the required 12v at the solenoid or relay? Than you need to check that the 12v is passing through the solenoid. A quick way to check is to take a small jumper cable wire and go from the battery right to the starter to see if it turns. Make sure your in neutral. If the starter turns than you have an issue from either button to solenoid or pass through of the solenoid. Hope this helps.

Standard trouble shooting will need a multimeter to read voltage and continuity
12+ Volts at the battery ?
Any fuses blown?
Power into the Starter relay ? (thick leads in and out) under the seat the blue and red wire is important?
Power into the Starter switch ? One wire feeds multiple things, including the signal to turn on computer and fuel injection pump pin 3 (blue/red from starter relay)
Power to the starter switch should temporarily power all 4 fuses (fuse 2 should have power on all the time) when depressed

If not, do you get fuel pump starting up when you bridge pins 5 and 6 on the diagnostic port under the seat ?
After that it's time to check the power relay, charging circuitry and earthing

On well used bergs I've seen the following multiple failures -
battery voltage -->need a certain voltage for the computer to work

I've seen three different breaks in the wiring looms that led to the same symptoms:
one, a break in the wire that leads into the starter switch right were the frame and triple clamp meet Blue and red broken between the power relay under the seat that feeds pin 1 on the start switch

The other was wires broken in the loom - can't remember if it was the yellow and red red wires at the join or the red and white wires at the join. but the loom was a tight wrap around the battery box from memory

These were on mates bikes, with different levels of maintenance. One guy considers the husaberg a "maintenance free" model, similar to his XR 650 ....

another mate had a dodgy wire on the LHS "motor off" switch block so was always "off"

Further, I have read about the main starter wire breaking down internally (the other day in fact)
and about the voltage rectifier circuit failing.

Welcome to the world of EFI

sociable.

Hello Bilga. There's the problem. To many stops for bs sessions. Fool injection is fine IF your batt is hot enough for an arc welder.
Really though, I bet you ended up with a whiskered plug. Check every plug- in and the plug wire, then screw in a fresh plug. Bet she starts. Good luck, L

SOLVED - It was a blown main fuse.

I connected up ****** $20 ebay blinkers front and back and obviously these have triggered the fuse.

New 20A fuse, and it starts as new!

Leaving this up for anyone else with a similar problem.
