Hi Husaberg fans,
Can anyone say where this factory weight 109 kg is taken? Is it without oil and other liquids and battery? I weighted it and without gasoline 115 kg. Can the smaller weight be just a sale trick?

Wolts
FE 550 E 07

Usually weights for motorcycles is given in dry weight.

The type of tires, and tubes greatly affects the weight of a bike as well.

How reliable is your scale that you're using?

At the Dirt rider 24 hour test of 06 I believe they weighed the Husaberg with gasoline ready to ride and it was 268 lbs or 121.8KG's. So, if they had 2 gallons of gas in it, 121#-12#=109kgs.

who knows, but only 6kg difference is hell of alot better than most manufactures

its probably minus all liquids and leccy start system

yes they remove all liquids and probably the tyres?

dale
a pint weighs a pound so 9 litres is 2 gallons which is 16 pints which is 7 kilos.

i've weighed mine twice at 120KG with low fuel but handguards fitted, no leccy start or battery, heavy duty tubes fitted.

I weighed my 650 fueled, tooled, accessorised and ready to go at 122.2 kg. My wife KLX250/300 in similar condition, with many superfluous bits removed weighed 128.5kg. Manufactures weights are a bit of crystal ball gazing and marketing for them. Bathroom scales under each wheel and then add the two results together. What else have we got out there to weigh?

weight of bikes

Weight of a bike at rest (on scales) is important to be aware of, when picking the bike up handlebar down hill off the trail you'll understand.
The most important factor of weight is when it's in motion
This is were the Husaberg feels great,(with proper suspension tuning) the balance front to rear, suspension control on compression and rebound, weight distribution, all combined, make the bike very workable. I have owned four Fe501's
My WR450 Yamaha is a good bike but you can feel the 285 pounds (3 gallon tank) when stopped or while making corrections in motion, the weight is very noticeable, always feels heavy!!
My 200KTM is light, so light it has a nerves feel about it, deflects easy when blasting through brush (sage brush in Idaho)
I hope the 2009 Husaberg is going to be as great as what my expectations are. I am definitely going to buy a "09" sounds like they got this balance and gyroscope effect of spinning parts working in the riders favor, not against the rider. I am sure this company can build a great enduro bike if not held back.
Have a great ride

I would say woults 115kgs without fuel would be bang on the money for an FE.

The magazines wet weight and steves wet weights of around the 122kg mark confirm this

ie 122kgs - 10.5L of fuel @ approx 780gm/L= 8.2kgs approx= around 114kgs for a "wet" bike minus fuel

My fe650 weighs in at 119kgs with full fuel, oil, water, barkbusters and bash plate.
Weighed using bathroom scales on top of a centre stand.
Not exactly calibrated so it could be a kg or so either way.

the blackberg weighs in at 253# or 115 kg with nearly a full tank.

I weighed my 08 FE 550 last week as delivered, was 113.5kg with about 4 litres of fuel (10.5 litre tank), indicators, oil and coolant, one mirror, long rear fender extension. Weighed again with hand guards fitted, short rear extension, 7.5 litre tank (dry), no mirrors or indicators- 109.5kg.

my 650 motor was around 35 kg on the bath room scales ... minus some metal shavings from certain shafts and bearings :(

by my digital scales
my old cr500 weighed 112.5kg with fuel & oil
my 2001 fe650 weighs 117.5kg with fuel & oil (no battery, no starter motor)
motor weighs 29.8kg (no starter motor)

the latest dirt action mag, they done a 450 shootout
they weighed each bike (wet) these are the weights they have come up with....

all 2008 model bikes

husaberg. fe450 118.26kg
tm 450fes 121.56kg

Great Info there matey
Thanks

there used to be a rule in RR about a kilo was worth a BHP but of course it would have been relevant to the class that you were on about. those are very impressive numbers for the husey but when the new "modern" engine comes out we won't be the lightest then i wouldn't think.
