Husaberg ( notice the red line when you type it in a post... ) is not in our dictionary ! Has anyone ever noticed that it's red underlined every time you write it...Husaberg, Husaberg Husaberg.

Lets start a petition to get it put in dictionaries around the world from next year...wadya reckon ?

It's actually a place outside a small town called Askersund, where it all began. :)

It is not a river.
The word Husaberg split into two becomes Husa and berg. Berg means mountain and Husa doesn't mean anything really. It probably has some ancient meaning that no one know.

A small history lesson for any new members :D

Most of you know that the brand name originally comes from the place where the very first "factory" was located - Husabergs udde just outside Askersund in the very north point of lake Vättern. Husabergs udde means something like "Cape Husaberg".

The factory moved after a short while to the small village Röfors. The street name became Endurovägen (enduro street) after the move. On a side note I grew up in the residential area called Nyhammaren that you'll see if you zoom out a bit and follow the road 205 to the north

In 2004 when production was moved to Mattighoffen R&D etc was moved to a place called Hjälmarberget in the outskirts of Örebro. On another side note I these days live in a residential area called Adolfsberg just north of Hjälmarberget. Zoom out a couple of times too see it

History of Askersund:
The history of Askersund originates from the Viking Period. Around 900 a.d. funeral pyres
burned by the stream beside Husabergs point (Husabergsudde). The burial grounds here
were excavated at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. Bronze buckles
and spearheads were unearthed.... (taken from www.askersund.se)

Also check out http://www.husabergsudde.se

husa (SE) -> Hausmädchen (DE) -> housemaid (EN)

Jocke, please confirm...

Thanks for the history lesson guys & the links to where it is in the world. Love to visit there one day, sometime soon. Just need to win that elusive lottery & I'm there.

Spot on I'd say.
Although "Husa" in the sense of nice-looking-girl-who-puts-on-a-little-french-maid-outfit-and-cleans-your-house is almost never used. It's a really old word.

The Swedish word for House is just Hus
A house - Ett hus
The house - (det) huset
Those houses - (de) husen
Two houses - tvĺ hus

I just remembered another thing. If you use this link to where R&D and the Scandinavian HQ are located today you'll see a picture of what the building look like. You can use the zoom to get closer.
In the northeast corner of the building looking like a mirror view of an "E" you can see the KTM sign just above the Husaberg sign and also the KTM banners on the building.
The workshop is located in the southeast corner of the building. The red door in front of the third car if you let your eyes travel west by north west from the very corner is the front door to where Roland, Jens and Krilla spend their days.

Were you guys able to understand my ranting ?

Edit: If "NO" I made this little picture explaining :D
Orange arrow = KTM/Husaberg sign
Red arrow = the door to wonderland

Haha, suitable name for the address as well "grusgropsvägen" (roughly translated - gravel pit road). :D Is that the place you can see traveling along E20 just before Marieberg outside of Örebro Jocke?

I usually feel all warm inside when passing that place going to or from that superb enduro track in Laxå. :)

If you follow my link and then scroll to the north a bit you'll actually see the old gravel pit. It's still in use by the way.
The place is actually called Hjälmarberget but there was no reference to it on eniro.se. Hjälmarberget translates to: The mountain by lake Hjälmaren. Hjälmaren (a couple of km's to the northeast) was a lot bigger a couple of hundred years ago and this was the closest they could get to a "mountain"

Jajjemen, it is the building some 50m east of the E20 between Örebro and Marieberg. Now you'll be a lot warmer knowing that this is the birthplace of the brand new 70 degree engine :D

The name Husaberg was only made official by Gustavsson when entering an enduro race at Skillingaryd, as he was forced to declare the make of his motorcycle.

History of Husaberg

Hej Dur HusaHeads,

The name derives from the Husaberg by the old Husqvarna factory....the House on the Hill.

Next time your are in Askursund...go ask Uncle Roland.
