Gonna buy a map switch for my '09 Berg FE570. Is there anything wrong with the OEM Husaberg version? I can get one pretty cheaply.

Just that it's kind of difficult to use. You have to stop the engine (same as other switches), take the switch out of it's waterproof rubber cover, turn the small selector switch (without gloves) and then put it back together and start your bike. The 70 degree switch has a separate kill switch build in and a thumb operated selector.

The husaberg switch does have a position for "bad gas" though.

Huh?

I bought the Husaberg switch and hated it. Before my first ride I replaced it with a home made switch (search the forum for info). The 70 Degree switch is a very nice alternative. I didn't go that route because I already have too much junk on my bars. I first mounted my home made switch on a little plate that also holds my grip heater switch and a key that I added. I have since moved the two switches to sit between the headlight shroud and the speedometer.

The only flaw in the OE map switch is that it's such a PITA to use. I modified the redundant indicator switch, as others have done, and it works a treat. Be better still if you could change maps on the fly though I guess that's a limitation of the ECU hardware rather than the software.

Why did you hate it? I probably won't be making my own switch... Electricity and I do NOT get along...

As others have said, it is a PITA to use.

* I didn't like the whimpy little rubber strap that attaches it to the bars.
* The wires were too short to mount it where I wanted.
* The rubber cover is a pain to get off and back on.
* The rotary dial has 10 positions but there are only 3 useful. The switch mounts at an odd angle and the numbers are almost impossible to read with glasses because I couldn't get it lined up on the proper portion of my glasses.

If you don't want to make your own, I would recommend buying the 70 Degree switch. It looks like a quality product and is much, much more user friendly.

My '10 FE450 came with a factory map switch right out of the box. Found it by accident while tidying up the headlight wiring. I was not looking for it, so I guess it was a nice bonus! Set it to aggressive and forgot about it. Living in Colorado, with it's high elevations, the aggressive setting feels just fine here.

How often do you want to change the setting?

As Duken4evr says, buy the factory item and switch it to '2' and ride ......
