I just purchased an '02 FE 400E, when I switch it between hi and low ignition modes I really can't tell a difference in it. Is this normal or could something be wrong with my switch?

Thanks

Between 2,000 rpm and 6,000 rpm the ignition timing is ******** in an effort to soften power delivery and consequently improve grip.

You may or may not be able to sense the difference via seat "O" the pants testing on solid ground.

PS
Figured I had better prove of some benefit lest I be shunned for making fun of the 06 brochures. LOL

Hey Guys,
Something must be wrong with your systems. It is very noticeable when you move from high to low and back again. Engine revs go down in LOW and go up in High. Sorry don't know how to troubleshoot. Ask Taffy or Electrical Moderator.

I Ownly Notice A Difference When Wringing The Neck In Top Or Lugging In A To Higher Gear,Cant Remember Which Way It Works But Lugging In 3rd And A Quick Flick Of The Throttle And It Tries To Throw Me Off. At WOT Flicking The Switch It Pulls A Little Before The Power Rolls Away,If You Know What I Mean

The difference is very noticable when riding a short arena x or super x
track. Hi curve is needed to get out of the corners and clear the close jumps. On a longer moto x style track hi or low depends on the conditions.
When trail riding I do not notice much of a difference.

it took me just 4 years to remember to try it at last in some heavy clay about three months ago. i noticed a big difference lugging the engine in second and third.

regards

Taffy

I did not think much of the option untill one day it
was real muddy and I was sliding all over the place.
It calmed the spinning down and realy helped it in
the low power range.GasGas is using this option
on it's 06 2st bikes,I may have to try one out.

hi

a quick test to see if the switch is working start engine run in neutral increase revs slowly and move switch you should notice a increase or decrease in revs same using bike on road hold steady speed in top gear and move switch - when riding it is hard to notice the difference unless slippery or trying to get threw trees quickly and smoothly
