Hi, ive been helping a friend with a bike that has been standing still for a couple of years and had no spark.

To start with the CDI box was broke, a working used one was bought. We switched the CDIs but still no spark. I found what the Stator should deliver to the CDI on this site, and it was correct values. After this we tried to move the groundpoints for the stator and CDI, but still no spark. Now he sent the stator and CDI to a guy who mesured them and ran them in a rig, with perfect results.

Were out of ideas so pleas help us!

I hope you understand my english, swedish you know

Hi,

Welcome to the site you will find it very helpful. This posting you have put up sounds very familiar has somebody recently put up this posting before. The guy that ran it up did he give you any rpm figures to when it sparked up on his test rig should be aruond 350 rpm. I have run up ignition that will spark but when on the engine you can not generate enough rpm
It could be a case of if it is spun up fats enough it will spark up but on a kick you can not get enough rpm.If it is a 99 you will have a white wire from the cdi when you hit the start button this should become live 13vdc.Let us know what you find.

Regards
Sparks.

I didnt talk to they rig guy myself, the owner of the bike did, but he told what the other guy told him. That he got a good spark and that the ignition curve was good, when he ran it in the rig. I´ll ask him for the rig guys number tomorrow and will give him a call myself.

Have to be another person with the same problem, we havent posted here before!
