What upgrades do you do for a Husa Berg FE 650 08?

I'm thinking if there is any way to optimize the engine?

Switch to Taffy valve springs and needle kit?

Had a 650 2002 model before and I bought a lot of upgrade parts but do not know about the 2008 model needs it?

well if it was mine this is what I'd do with an open cheque book:

DVSK
modify the ADC on the cam (strengthen it)
starter repair kit cos it'll need it soon anyway
jetting kit
FX tailpipe outlet
if on road: 41mm/Bellmouth/cone filter
top end/high end cam or if proven: 8/07 cam (but only if I had a cam with a racing Ti pipe)

if others know better then I'm sure they'll add to the list.

regards

Taffy

Ok
Is it any weak parts on the 08 engine?

Since this is the last 650 engine, didnt they make it very relaibly?

FWIW ORANGEBERG has found NTN roller mains generally last longer than the SKF although I couldn't break mine (the skfs).

also consider the Hot Cams 3015 and the ktm 8/33, i have both, the 3015 is better but the stock 08 cam is a very very good cam

155 MAJ is one of the best and simplest thing anyone can do to the carb

There are many DVSK's available and a few different incarnations of the OEM conical or beehive springs, the later (you would assume 07 - 08) ones are supposedly the best. (KTM talk)

Akra full ti
head
cam
mappable ignition
intake
jetted correctly

= +70whp

with jbs kit, who knows = +80whp ?

more stuff dribbling out  stock squish is 1.2mm +

I found a "105mm" JBS gasket compresses to 0.95mm gives 0.95-1mm squish and small bump in compression, not sure how easy it is to get one :? they are made by "gaskets to go" or maybe a 1mm copper cometic would be nice

for the head, kibblewhite oversize valves are available (same as ktm rfs) 36 intake and 31 exhaust easy with a quick seat recut + bit of unshrouding and port the intake and exhaust tracts, or get ferrea blanks stock exhaust seats can go to 32mm, can use KTM sintered iron valve guides instead of the stock soft berg ones.

some have found there is an issue with the elko piston cracking, however it is very light and I found it very good in my case at stock comp ratio. the new wossner catalog now has more detailed dimensions so you can work out which KTM pistons have the 100mm bore, 20mm pin and appropriate deck heights.

the new RC8-R has 105mm pistons and a 20mm pin, other rc8s at 103.6mm also 20mm pin westwood UK can make a liner, FWIW thumperracing (usa) have done 102mm builds on bergs.
