hi guys i wondered if if anyone could point me in the right direction i have a fe400e 2001 which has become a pig to start but when it does run it runs fine revs and idles as it should checked spark looked a little weak so had stator checked all fine one thing i have noticed is the fuel mixture screw is screwed all the way in and its still running any other advice would be appreciated

Well adjusted valves and a clean carb go a long way on the kick start. Sometimes (when she's been sitting a while) it's good to drain the old gas and put in some fresh stuff.

With my 650, there's a hot start and a choke. I open both, pull in the decomp and "slow kick" to cycle the motor and get fresh air into the carb. Then close the hot start, bring up to the tdc stroke, go down a touch on the decomp, back up a bit and jump on it. With well adjusted valves, it's one to three kicks. With slightly out of adjustment valves, it's hit and miss and it becomes my "Sweating to the Oldies" workout routine. Sans Richard Simmons.

Too big pilot jet. The bike should stall with the screw all in
Cheers
