Hmmm, yeah, there is a thread about this on TT. Here is more (including movies):

http://www.highland.se/450mx.aspx

I see a very Husaberg-looking rear fender, a KTM-style front fender (which is now on the Bergs), WP forks...

BUT... the drive is on the right side, the motor does not bear any particular similarity with that of the Husabergs, the frame is Honda inspired, and I think I see a linkage at the bottom of the rear suspension.

So what makes it a descendant of the Berg, except that it comes from the land that also gave us ABBA? Some engineers left Husaberg to spin off their own dirt bike brand?

Nothing really, only that "the very same engineer that designed the original Husqvarna and Husaberg lightweight four strokes designed the Highland". 8O

So there I have my answer. You could have said that in the first post, but thanks.

Did not see it as being necessary. One need only look to the left side of the engine in order to note the similarities.

Let me guess your next post will be about wanting BMG to fund a flat track bike?

Albacore,
You must be psychic.

PS
What is it with you and "Flattrack" anyway? :D

They must be having the same company as KTM do the
plastic.IT SHOULD HAVE OHLINS SUSPENSION ! I can't
see a kick starter in the pictures. His favorite color must
be yellow.People usualy learn from their mistakes(at
least the smart ones do) it should be a good bike.

From what I've heard the Highland 450 uses the bottom from the Folan engine that once were used by canondale and the top is from Highlands own twin.
The bike has been seen tested at a couple of track days in SM-trim. The guy testing it is a pretty good competitive rider that says after riding the Highland it's a drag going back to his YZ450.
It seems they have a loooong way until it will come into production but rumors say they will enter races here as soon as next year :D

Here is a couple of pics from one of these days. The jump could have been a bit longer....

Hi Jocke_D.
I would be very interested in viewing pictures of the Highland single in action.

Whether dear Urban scratched out the Highland design personally or not, his influence is overwhelming.

Husqvarna, Husaberg, Vor, Vertemati, Folan, Highland and even Honda have his mark.

Half of this should somewhat outline the 450 single.

keep me posted. If others prove uninterested (being off Husaberg topic as is GNC Dirttrack) please contact me direct @ [email protected]

Sincerely,
Dale

PS
Urban Larsson is quite a man whom I have had the distinct honor of "talking Tech" in person.

I think it is very interesting. Is that a throttle body
fuel injection system? They definetly need a 750cc
flatrack version.

The engine is port injected with a single throttle body.
My Highland "DT" chassis is set up for twin down-draught throttle bodies.

Once (if ever) DOT approved the 950 will be legal for AMA / GNC competition.

So far I have an engine, chassis, Penske shock, triple clamp assembly and a complete Engine management System.

Progress is slow as funding is independent. (ie me)

There are a few more pics on the webpage, just click "news". There you will also find two small videos of the 450MX racing in a south swedish field.

Hi,

here are some of the pictures I snapped , as well as the above sm-pic, the first time we met at the track.

They sure seem to have solved the reliability issue, 'coz it has been running for hours and hours without probs at the meets.

They claim to have a 5hp advantage over the jap 450s (CRF/RM-Z).
And no kickstarter, electric.

Regards,
Dave
