Hello all,Just about to look at a 650sm,is there any bad thing to look for,Its only done 2 k and looks in good order for a 2002,Whats a fair price in the uk for this bike,Many thanks in advance, cheers colin

hello!

suppose this bike is in a shop , well to be honest the nearest exit door is what you should look for!!

really.

go for at least a 2004 and after model.

the 2002 needs to have lots of upgrade bits on it to make it nice. when that is done you'll have a nice bike. If you get it for £1,000 it's a bargain. around £1,500 is fair. to get anymore you want to know whether it's been cared for.

if you're trying to chisel the price then I'd say £1,800 less all this stuff to upgrade it:

later auto decomp weight on the cam
carb kit
modified starter sprague and the starter clutch
must have a CTZ7s or YTZ7s battery on it
extra strong starter is good
cam chain under 2 years old
it must have had a rebuild so when was it and how much was it?
is it an FS or is it an FE converted? how well converted? shocks done?
if it doesn't start on the button then hit him hard.

the rest is all about good ownership as you know....

give me a call if you want to go further. the 2002s can be great value but as the lads kinda indicate - be careful and what was done to it?

regards

Taffy
