Dear all

after selling my R80ST scrambler I now think I've seen the light (!) in form of a Husaberg 650 Flat Tracker. That's what I want. So here the questions:
I've found one in the UK for £3,500.00 but given that I live in Germany, I suspect I'll run into tedious problems registering it here.

So the main question is: will I be able to customise a Husaberg SuperMoto 650 donor bike with 19" rims & a custom fuel tank and still be road legal? Has anybody got any experience with 'Flat Tracking' a street legal Supermoto in Germany? Whilst I realise the above might be a bit un-specific, I would very much welcome advice or being pointed into the right direction. Thanks and best

I converted an '05 FS650c to a flat tracker by putting a Shinko 705 on the front. It's a relatively cheap tire, but in the 120/80-17" size it has a high enough sidewall to get about the same outside diameter of a 19" wheel. It's also much wider and gives great front end feel in the dirt. Street legal too!
 
Just checked the Shinko site, my tire is actually a 120/90-17" and that extra 10 mm. sidewall gives it almost an extra inch of diameter. If you decide to go with a 19" wheel, they also make a 110/80-19" that sells for $50 in the States.

the top link above is the bike for sale on ebay built by Dave Clarke Racing.

The lower link is my bike, as you'll see in the write up it takes more than 19" wheels and a flat track tank to get the flat track look.

Without knowing how you test the road worthiness of bikes in Germany it's difficult to say how you would get on.

In England we have yearly MOT tests to pass, in France they don't.


If you do have road worthiness tests then probably best to speak to a mechanic at a testing station to see what you are allowed to modify.
