Hi guys,

I hope you don't mind me asking some questions that you've probably already answered some way or another.
I sold my ZX6R '07 a few days ago cause my friend got himself a Husq 450 '04 and I've been wanting to get a SM too for the past three years.
At first I thought about buying a Husqvarna 570 '01 that had a complete engine rebuild. Figured its a reliable engine and I can buy it for 2800EUR.

Then however I came across this Berg http://www.marktplaats.nl/index.php...6-husaberg-fe400-als-nieuw-6000km.html?xref=1
Now I know that Bergs need more servicing, oil change every 500km & valve check every 2000km if I'm not mistaken (street use) but I wanted to know from you guys if it'll hold up to the Husq 450. I'm not looking for a bike to beat the Husq but I don't want to strain the engine cause I can't keep up.
What kind of bothers me though is he labels the bike 'FE 400 SM' in the ad & I asked if it was a converted FE or if he meant 'FS400'. He just replied that it's a factory Supermoto called 'FE400SM'. That's not right is it?

I also posted this on thumpertalk but I'm not getting any answers.. I'm probably too impatient
Thanks in advance!

i think they did do a FS400 but not an FE400SM as that is a contradiction ion the very name. E s for enduro.

so what if he converted it? just keep an eye out for details but otherwise your problems are age related by now. last time they made the 400 was in 2003 (early).

regards

Taffy

No wonder I couldn't find any info on a 2004 model! Thanks Taffy.
I really want to buy this Berg but I'm going to do the 'smart thing' and let it slide.
Don't want to ride a pre 2004 bike as I don't want my first Berg Experience to be a, more than likely, pricey one. Don't get me wrong, I know Bergs are pricey no matter what vintage but I've set my mind on a a 2004+ model.
The guy who's selling it is already lying to me or he's just ignorant, either way it sounds no good.

id think twice. the '03 400 is one of the best bikes for propper enduro riding husaberg ever made.

well i think so at least and i know a few others who think the same.

sumo wise it would be fun but its not what it was made for.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm going to be on the streets 9 out of 10 anyways so the enduro side of things is to be neglected for my purpose. I'm probably going to buy something on the cheap & save the money 'till next year. Maybe with a little luck I can buy a '09 Berg. Thanks again for helping me out!

good idea in that case

If you've just come from a ZX6R then you may find the 400 a little slow in supermoto trim, great with knobblies off road but you need decent bhp for some real supermoto fun, as new as you can afford 650 is the real tool plus you'll blow your mates Husky in to the weeds.
