Thank you Tolis, those are interesting photos.

I could be wrong but it looks to me like they've removed the current counter-balancer assembly - if they have, I wonder why that might be?

All the best,
Simon

there is a lot we can learn from those photos.

as we know the man who designed the husaberg then did the ktm, then the beta and then the sherco. not sure about the order of the last two but i think so. anyway, they have gone back to the balancer between the flywheels and infront of the engine, they have gone for a full flywheel crank, they've gone for a very shallow included valve angle of i think about 30-32d, i think the rod length looks shorter than usual so maybe the ratio is back to japanese stuff?

they've gone for hyvo chain, they've gone for cam drive from the crank, they've gone for a yamaha type decomp.

so in a way, it's a 1997 engine tipped on its tail and turned plus an oil pump - oh they had one of those then as well!

there is a gear there that i'm not sure what it does?

Taffy

Hi there
I am from sweden..and I have seen this bike as a prototype in the closet in the beginning of 2000, before KTM bought the husaberg company..the fantastic four allready had the bike figured out. KTM put a lid on it and now shows it 8 years later.
This shows how fast the world in mx are spinning.

Hmmjm I though KTM bought husaberg a few years prior to 2000; No? It would not suprize me if this had been under wraps for so long...

Husaberg was sold to KTM 1995. The production was moved to Mattighofen 2003. Maybe that's why the proto was seen in a closet. I'm glad it finally stepped out of the closet.

husaberg 2009 in action

hi today i have e look how the new husaberg work on special test at six days in grecce
and i be disappointment, i have see oil leak from the top cylinder , and the engine body
Its very guiet of engine noise, and looks very smooth on power delivery. the plastic
sub frame is the all the money and looks for me more like ktm! on blue i keep the old husaberg for ever for the simpleness and the look

ok

on closer inspection i'm seeing something i've personally never seen before in my sheltered little world! they appear to have a flat piston with the middle area left out and no squish. this can't be true so i'm missing a trick obviously!

right?

next, the con rod looks very wide but must therefore be very thin. as usual with husaberg the big end pin just misses the main journal so do these bikes share the same stroke? the cutaway engine appears to be the 450 i would think?

the valve angle is very shallow, very very shallow. i would put it at under 30d now. anyway, the rockers are really, really short. probably exactly the same as a sherco.

so despite the upper half looking like a KTM, i don't think it will have much in common with it at all!

still can't get my head around those large gears? anyone?

right? The cylinderhead have the same squish form as the piston, so there is squish.

I think the crank-rod-piston is the same as in Ktm Exc range, But husa look like they are going for rollermains insted of ballbearings that ktm have. now 35mm shafts.

the valve angle is very shallow, very very shallow. i would put it at under 30d now. anyway, the rockers are really, really short. probably exactly the same as a sherco.

ist it CB and gearbox ???

Perhaps the sickest thing of all, it appears that the head/cylinder are one piece?!?!? 8O 8O

Are my eyes telling the truth??

The cylinderhead and cylinder/liner are two part it can be seen easy. The valve has shims to set the gap like a lashcap in diffrent height..
I think many part are the same as KTM Exe. Cylinder, head, crank, gearbox, clutch. So basicly its a new engineblock based on KTM components.
I have heard rumors that Husaberg have developed the Exc engine also.

what is it with you swedish? 64 posts in 18 months and half of those in the last week! you're getting into a frenzy mate! back into hibernation again in about a week?

why not get the development team to drop us a line sometime!

regards

Taffy

I looked in exc manual and, they have 39,5mm inletvalves and 31,7mm exhaustvalves, I can understand now the rumor that the 570 have 10 ps more than the 628. and 450 6-7 ps more than the last. cool. Ist the similar size that the sumo boys have in their tuneds 650.

ones upon in time I Had i vision that I should have a ratio of 100-1 in post with Taffy, but I son understand that im not gonna follow his rate,

450 is 63,6X95 and 570 72x100 same stroke as the EXC 450/530 and same bore on the 450 but the 570 have a 5mm bigger piston than the EXC530.
Thats why i think that the new husa have the same crank as the EXC.
