I need to remove the kickstarter in order to disassemble my engine but the thing won't budge. Is there any trick to it or do I just have to go and get a puller?

A puller is very seldom needed, most of us coax it off (read pry) with a couple of screw drivers. Dont pry too hard though and dqamage the side cover. If it is really bonded to the shaft, you should use a puller. Make sure you clean the spines and coat them with a waterproof grese, like boat trailer wheel bearing grease, which is aluminum based. This will keep them from bonding in the future.
Joe is spot on with his suggestions for removal. For what its worth, the shaft that the kick starter mates to has a tapered spline where it terminates into the smooth shaft as it enters the side cover. This tapper has been a common sheering point for many husaberg owners including myself. If the screw that holds the kick starter to the shaft was overly tightened this will put allot of strain onto the shaft spline termination area and could cause eventual sheering of the said shaft. After you remove the kick starter from the shaft using Joes method, I would inspect the area of the shaft where the splines terminate for any visual damage and replace the shaft if necessary. There may not be any visual signs of micro fractures but it is worth looking into while you have the pieces apart. There are some pictures in my gallery HERE that may be of better help explaining what I am writing about. I only mention this as it is good to have this information while things are apart so you can inspect before reassembly. Post up any comments you may have and the fine gents at the UHE will do you right. Take care and good luck
