have we ever answered this one before?

my FE400e has no leccy boot and gubbins for it. i've pulled the indicators, speedo and a few bits that should add up. so what does it weigh?

no guesses or pamphlet readers please! just the 'real deal' stats.

also if you know your onions - who has measured each wheel for the balance?

regards

Taffy

:D Well me lad that's easy peasy lemon squeezzy!

120 front 126 rear total 246lbs.

heavy tubes, rad guards,barkbusters

1/2 tank fuel 06 fe 450 no e-starter!!!

Cheers!

112 kilos! not bad i reckon!

112
112
=224
+ 10% = 22.4
224 + 22.4 = 246 pounds.

i once electronically weighed my '99 WR400 with similar set up. 128 kilos or 282 pounds of fat!

cheers boss!

Hi Taffy,

Any chance you weighed the parts associated with the E-start after removal?

Also, I wonder if the weight difference is apreciable while out riding?

I have thought about removing this on my bike but figure with the battery, starter so low to begin with - just what effect it would have...

i have noticed that unlike my roadrace days it is veryhard to compare because we ride variable terrain all the time. however i distinctly remember the removal of the leccy boot and battery when shaking the bike left to right etc. however on the move-no i don't.

i did weigh everything at the time and it came to less than 12 pounds i believe. the battery weighs as much as the starter or close too!

Thanks for the reply Taff. 12 pounds sure "sounds" like a lot. But you never know...

To be honest, the only time I notice the weight is on long, steep downhills. I was on a friends 125 not long ago and it felt like a fully suspended mountain bike. It was awesome IMO 8)

YM 2004, abstract from a test.

The bikes were ready to race.

Husaberg FE 450 E 121kg; 49% front wheel
Husaberg FE 550 E 123,2kg; 48,8% front wheel
Husaberg FE 650 E 128,9kg; 49,1% front wheel

just weighed everything electronically at a waste paper mile. level pad.

bike weighs
116KG which is 255 pounds no fuel
front was 56KG or 123 pounds and 48.2%
rear was 60KG or 132 pounds and 51.8%
i weighed 100KG which is 220 pounds in my gear. didn't see what it was with me sat or stood-wish i had, would have been nice to know what happens.

bike has handguards, sidestand, front and tail light, tall seat, heavy duty tubes

doesn't have: leccy boot, battery, balancer, speedo, horn or rear brake lever set-up, any engine guards at all.

it would appear that husey have been saving weight over the last few years! unless...nah-shan't say it!

Can you weigh a late model new Husaberg to compare? If I remember correctly, the prior dirt rider test weighed the FE450 at 253lbs? If so, then it doesn't sound much different, although they did have the electric start on there I think. The manufacturers all lie about their weights, anyways.

brendan

it's two posts up from yours.

i have checked and the 450exc is about the same weight possibly a pound heavier than the husey. the 450SX weighs 230.4 pounds ready to go w/o fuel.

brendan how is the perceived weight of your katoom exc and the fe husey you ride?

regards

Taffy

I... umm... haven't rode my '00 Husaberg yet. It is still in pieces. I can compare my ktm250rfs to a Honda crf250x, and a scorpa 250 trials bike though. The ktm is heavy. Fully fueled and with all the crap mounted on it, it has to be around 300lbs. It does feel lighter than my friend's wr426. From what I remember, it feels a little lighter than my old '97 fc501.
