I posted a thread a couple weeks back inquiring about best upgrades for some valvetrain replacement on an '02 FE650.

Just found out the cam is hooped as well. The intake lobe is gouged from the non-functioning roller wheel.

What are the options for a cam replacement for this bike. 2002 FE650. Any estimates on price would help as well.

THanks.

Cam for 650

Take a look at cams that Dale Lineaweaver offers. He can be found with a forum member search. There is always the factory replacement. Best to update the rocker assembly to the later ones if you have an '02. Cam chain and guide and tensioner as well. BD

RE: Cam for 650

On my 05 FS650 at 4500 miles / 170 engine hours I also found my rocker arm roller wheels were crunchy and not rolling smoothly. I was lucky they didn't damage the cam lobes.

Instead of trying to replace the roller bearings on the existing rockers I just installed new rocker arms. I suppose these rollers should be inspected periodically for smooth roller action.

"I suppose these rollers should be inspected periodically for smooth roller action."

Truth be told said rollers should be replaced periodically or @ the very least pressed apart for inspection.

Once the axle begins to turn gray the entire Assembly is well on it's way to failure.

Inspect said axle under a strong light and magnifying lens as you are likely to find evidence of early spalling .
