New to this forum.....

I've had a few Bergs over the years and recently sold my 2008 450FE to purchase a nearly new 2011 450FE

I rode the new berg over some local moorland for the first time and the bloody thing started missing/popping big time.... I was lucky to get back to the van.

Strip down and clean i've spent hours on this GREAT forum to learn it could possibly be my fuel pump, injector, fuel filter or spark plug and lead.... anything else i forgot...??

My old berg never missed a beat.... i'm gutted i sold the old girl..!

I've started trying different things the only thing is you've to order all the parts online to keep costs down....
Currently I've Ordered;

1, Spark plug
2, Fuel pump pressure tester
3, Fuel hose clips
4, CA Cycleworks fuel pump
5, Fuel filter for pump

Thats about £250.00 worth of kit when in the past all i'd have done is drain the flippin carb...!

Any additional help would be great.... sorry if i posted this in wrong section it may need to be directed to 'mechanical'

Cheers.!

It's the nearly new part of the story that scares me. Any chance this was a pre existing condition? If not you are off to a good start as far as parts go.
Check all of your harness connections behind the headlamp, under the seat, the harness running by the rear shock and the wires going to the stator. Also the wiring to the kill switch.
hopefully it is just a spark plug or plug cap.

You ordered a plug but not the cap! Could be cap. Check wiring, especially the connector under the seat that goes to the fuel pump. Its a black one and they can come loose. Should be obvious.....

reckon i may have sorted it.... i know this may sound strange but this is what happened.....

i disconnected the QD coupling and popped out the male end, I plugged the fuel pump pressure gauge T in the fuel line to bridge it, then ran the bike and it ran perfect producing 52psi.... and why does it now run perfect i thought..???? "arrrhhhh maybe the fuel line is kinking and is routed incorrectly".... so i re-routed the fuel line connected it all back together and hey presto it runs like a good'un....

Now.....

I reckon the spark plug and CAP needs replacing anyway as a matter of course... anybody recommend a good cap.? I will probably fit the new fuel pump as a 'reliability' measure and the fuel filter is fitted in the tank in case i ride this weekend..!

cheers
