these are the 4 bearings that hold the sprague and the starter clutch. two reside in the cases and 2 in the left cover.

can anyone tell me any specs on the size of shaft that is meant to fit in them? i guess that it's 8mm but can anyone say they have seen it on paper?

it's just that i see problems with them now and again....

it's just that i'm seeeing a lot of play in the sprague assembly and the starter clutch and figured that the specs might be a bit tighter? like 8.1 or 8.2mm?

i've seen several shafts looking shot-up.

so i just wondered aloud if others thought that there was a bit too much wobble on the things....

And what with that extra play in the sprague assembly bearings, did you come up with something Taffy?
I was going to replace them beacuse of that extra play ,but i see it will not help.
My outter gear wipes out the engine case

no i never did anything.

all I will say is that i have twice had husabergs in with these worn out and they make a unique sound.

they jump every two seconds so:
wah-wah, wah-wah, chung, wah-wah, wah-wah, chung! wah-wah, wah-wah, chung!

this is because the sprague assembly instead of TURNING the clutch - it tries to climb it.
